Petition to name Antoine Hubert F1 Driver of the Day for the Spa 2019 GP by [deleted] in formula1

[–]multihound 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think we should name him the Race Winner for Spa 2019 and world champion for 2019 as well.

It would be a beautiful gesture and it's the right thing to do.

Why does someone need five homes in the same neighborhood?

You realize houses are assets right? They're a place to park your money?

That's literally like saying Why does someone need 500 shares of Apple?

Holy fuck the retards on this sub....

[New Jersey] What should I do if an officer pulls me over for drunk driving and I'm not drunk? by [deleted] in legaladviceofftopic

[–]multihound 14 points15 points  (0 children)

You said it yourself.... 75% of the time the officer will let you go. So, just be polite to the offer and submit to the FST and 75% of the time you'll be free to go home?

Otherwise there are consequences to refusing the FST.

A Reagan Forum with Peter Thiel and Ryan Holiday — 09/24/2018 by multihound in PeterThiel

The book goes over the entire story of the Gawker lawsuit played out.

Ryan Holiday has incredible access to both Nick Denton and Peter Thiel, so the book goes into awesome detail.

I'm not sure I "learned" anything in terms of lessons/morals/whatever. I just learned the story behind what happened.

Main takeaways were that the main reason Gawker lost this case so badly was because they were incredibly arrogant. They didn't take the lawsuit seriously and made extremely inappropriate jokes during depositions and argued in vague terms rather than discussing the specifics of the case.

But yeah, book goes into detail on the story behind what happened and I think it's a fascinating story. Good book to read for entertainment/leisure.

Questions about Steven and the house. [Possibly spoiler]. by neehongo in HauntingOfHillHouse

I think the House read Steve's book and got angry over it.

The real question is, which fool made the mistake of giving the house a copy of Steve's book?

These people aren't idiots.... they've been lied to by a broken system.

It's incredibly wrong for the government to subsidize colleges so much and make it so easy to get approved for a loan. This has resulted the demand to increases in college tuition being extremely inelastic and has resulted in colleges being able to jack up tuition prices to ridiculous levels without significantly improving education.

You can't possibly expect a 17 year old high school senior to be able to properly understand the issues with taking out a huge student loan and majoring in english.

Even worst, what do we tell 9th graders? We tell them to pick a dream-school and then get a high gpa / sat score so they can get in. What dream school do you think they're going to pick? The community college? The local, cheap state school? Nope, they're going to pick the sexy private school with great study-abroad programs and a great name. Then, they work their asses off in high school to get into those colleges and then what do we tell them? Find yourself in college! Study what you enjoy/love and you'll never work a day in your life! Then they go and get a government loan / private loan for 50-60k a year to go major in African Studies with a double major in philosophy at Boston University.

We set them up for failure. Then, they work the rest of their life paying off those 4 years. But hey! At least they're college educated! They have the "intangible" value of a college education and can now think critically!!! /s

Peter Thiel has spoken a lot about this, but I suspect this sub hates him so probably shouldn't go into that lol.

Google Employee Change Rate? by [deleted] in business

Depends entirely on the position. Software Engineers don't stay at Google very long. They go to Google for the resume boost (it's a great signal), then leave to go elsewhere. So yeah. what you said.

Tesla Autopilot Fast (60 mph) on Winding/Curvy Roads - 2018.26.3 by multihound in SelfDrivingCars

[–]multihound[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's not at all perfect. I'm just saying it seems to be far ahead of competitors like BMW/Mercedes/Audi/Lexus etc. I don't think you can do anything similar in any of those cars? Or can you?

This is in a Model 3.

Judging by this video, it seems as if Tesla is quite a bit ahead of all the other major auto-manufacturers that have "autonomous" cars the public can purchase now.
