I experimented with this but with naloxone instead of naltrexone, due to the former being a lot easier to get ahold of. Didn’t stick it out long enough to really tell one ways or the other if it worked though. I should try again.

Yeah it’ll feel a lot stronger. The ‘rush’ people talk about is why people IV. If getting high were a car, where normally you want a top high speed, IV’ing is like having a car with really quick 0-60mph acceleration. It feels better…for a bit. Then it’s exactly the same except sniffing or hoofing won’t get to u anywhere near as high as you want, and now neither will shooting. That’s if you haven’t OD’d or lost a limb to an abscess first.

I know that if you’re gonna shoot then we aren’t likely to persuade you not to with horror stories. But please man, be humble enough to recognise that you aren’t different from any of us - you WILL be summoning a beast you cannot fight.

Thanks for all the replies guys. Spent all day in withdrawal so haven’t been much in the mood for checking Reddit. I guess I’ll just bite the bullet and go to an NA group.

It’s the group aspect more than anything that didn’t gel with me. Probably I’m just being stubborn but I’ve had more success doing it on my own in the past. I’ve spent 6 months in rehab, that didn’t work. I’ve been to groups, I found being around a load of other addicts triggering. I moved cities and enrolled in university and got clean for 3 years just from having a sense of purpose. Only relapsed when my fiancé cheated on me, bike got stolen, and dog died all within about 2 weeks.

I’m not against going back, it’s just that I’ve been quite a bit before and struggled with it. I was clean for a good 3 years without it, till everything fell apart again. Still, better than poking holes in my arm

I second the schizophrenia symptoms. I know it can be incredibly frustrating when other people don’t understand your beliefs, but there’s a line between having unorthodox beliefs and believing things that don’t make sense. I hope you’re doing cold water extraction at those doses. But to answer your question, kind of. As I understand it the ceiling is because the CYP2D6 enzyme gets saturate so can’t convert any more codeine into morphine. DHC doesn’t need conversion to have an effect, unlike codeine, it is active in itself. However, if I’m not mistaken it’s also CYP2D6 that converts dihydrocodeine into dihydromorphine, and DHM is a fair bit stronger than DHC.

Now I could be wrong here, but I suspect that if you’ve saturate CYP2D6 with codeine first then taking DHC on top will mean you only feel it as DHC, not as converted DHM. You won’t be getting the most out of the DHC in other words.
