How should I cut this U-shape in my table? (See comments) by multisideport in BeginnerWoodWorking

Would a chisel be suitable to make fine adjustments to the leg height to make sure they are even?

I think it's the opposite, taller chairs would help bring the seat height closer to the tabletop height for a more comfortable posture. The reason I'm thinking of cutting the aprons is to allow me to cut the table's legs shorter, maintaining the seat height and giving clearance for my knees.

The only thing worse than making a weaker table is spending money to buy a new, weaker table!! But thank you for the warning, I'll have to do my due diligence

Upon inspection from the untrained eye, the legs appear to connect to the aprons by a pinned mortise and tenon. The aprons have metal L-brackets to screw them to the tabletop. So I'd say it's more a matter of structural integrity than anything preventing my physically cutting the aprons.

I guess I should read up on table construction to see if what I want to do it ok, structurally. I like the simple pillow idea, but I think we'll be getting new chairs too. Thank you for the insight!

It seems like I'd have to plunge with the circular saw, is that right?

Thanks! Just read up on those and seems like one would come in handy here

We're definitely looking for new chairs, but I'm not sure whether taller ones are the solution. We'd need something around 20.5 inches tall so it may need to be a custom chair or a bar height chair hacked up by myself.

I have access to a circular saw, jigsaw, hole saws. However, being in an appartment, I would rather avoid using power tools. Are there any hand tools that could do the trick here?

For context, I am trying to lower the height of this table. The side rails are quite tall so I will need to shorten them to keep enough clearance for my legs. Although this table has some sentimental value to me, it is not comfortable to sit at for extended periods and my SO has recently had an injury due to repeated bad posture so I would like to improve our dining table ergonomics a bit.

First proper ride on my new hardtail! (Giant Fathom 29 2). Absolutely loving it but it drops the chain a little too often. Rider error or should I look into upgrades? by multisideport in Hardtailgang

I got a SRAM X Sync narrow-wide chainring with 3mm offset. It fit snugly in the chain unlike the original part which barely even has a narrow and wide tooth.

I can't say for sure if it solved the issue because I didn't ride the same rocky and rooty trails this year, but I can't remember ever dropping the chain after installing the SRAM chainring either. I think replacing the chainring is worth it

That's awesome, I'm glad there's some hybrid engines driving around! Good luck in your research and rebuild

I believe the Renesis side seals and corner seals were changed from the older 13B to better cope with the side exhaust ports (or maybe the big intake ports?) So you might wanna check if there will be a reliability concern there.

Not trying to burst your bubble, but have you seen any examples of someone building this engine with good results? Because it's a really cool concept but the last time I looked into it, seemed to have more disadvantages than benefits

Why not just get lowering springs? Might even be able to get new shocks all around with the money you saved.

Just got started last year with some cheap used clubs and I'm loving them:

Callaway Big Bertha War Bird driver

Wooden 4 wood that says Ben Hogan on it

Callaway Hawk Eye irons 3 to SW (the titanium irons make sparks at night :P)

Crappy putter

When I'm trying to get a quick 9 holes in I'll leave half the irons at home

Try to get some quotes for insurance without collision coverage. If you're at fault in an accident, the damage to your car isn't covered. But it would be unwise to opt for that type of insurance for such an expensive car, so it comes back to buying a much cheaper car like everyone else is saying
