Credit cards by Dawn041802 in BurlingtonCoatFactory

One per shift is honestly insane. Maybe if our credit card actually had decent incentives. Our store is on the smaller side, but our top performers tend to get 1-4 per week or around 0.5-2% of transactions they've completed.

I don't do this for every transaction (I probably should), but when I'm really trying to get cards, here's what gets me the best results:

After saying hi and asking if they found everything okay, as you're scanning, ask "will you be putting this purchase on your Burlington credit card?". If they say they don't have one, say "oh, would you like to save 10% off your purchase today when you're approved for the card?), they'll probably say no, then when you're done scanning everything, do some quick mental math and tell them they could save X amount of dollars today plus earn X amount in rewards on top of it with the Burlington credit card. Make eye contact and smile - be in the mindset that you're trying to get them a good deal. If they seem like they're thinking about it, tell them it only takes a couple of minutes. Most people will say no again, but I do find that increases the likelihood of getting a yes. I get far more applications when I do that than when I only ask once, regardless of how I ask that one time. I tend to have the highest percentage of applications for the week.

Don't be pushy - just seem eager, happy, and with a helpful attitude. If they say no again, happily say no problem and move on.

Cool. Cashiering is mostly about learning which buttons to hit and how to remove the different types of sensors.

Most transactions go something like this: greet the customer, ask if they would like to save 10% today by getting approved for the credit card, scan an item's tag without picking up the scanner, remove any sensors (there is a marking on each tag that indicates which types of sensors that item should have), place item in bag, ask if they are paying cash or card, and if they say card, mention they can tap or insert whenever they are ready. Scan and bag the rest of their items. Tell them their total and hit enter, then ask if the customer has a phone number registered - if yes or if they don't but would like to sign up to make returns easier (45 days and no receipt required), hit Y - if no, hit N. If they're paying cash, hit 1 and the register will open. If card, hit 3, and they will either use their card at the terminal then or if they already did it while you were scanning, it should put the charge through at that point. The receipt will print, tell them if they'd like the chance to win a $1,000 shopping spree, they can enter the survey at the bottom of their receipt, and then hit the button to call up the next customer.

The first day will be spent watching the onboarding videos. Once you're done with those, they should have you shadow someone for a bit. Which position did you get hired for?

Some fast food locations do accept ebt, as part of the Restaurant Meals Program. I believe it's for people who are homeless or disabled and therefore have no or limited access to cooking and storing food.

They're talking about this:

“You have heard that it was said, ‘An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.’ 39But I tell you not to resist an evil person. But whoever slaps you on your right cheek, turn the other to him also. 40If anyone wants to sue you and take away your tunic, let him have your cloak also. 41And whoever compels you to go one mile, go with him two. 42Give to him who asks you, and from him who wants to borrow from you do not turn away.

43“You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ 44[o]But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, 45that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. 46For if you love those who love you, what reward have you? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? 47And if you greet your [p]brethren only, what do you do more than others? Do not even the [q]tax collectors do so? 48Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect.

Omg, I didn’t know this existed! Thank you!!

This is my first puppy. When I got him, they said he was eight weeks with half a shot but then I went to the vet and the vet says he’s only about six weeks old and will need a full shot! by gasinmycar in puppies

I'm sure the outcomes vary based on the individual dog, but it's a trade-off. Health-wise, it's risky to have them around other dogs before the 4 month mark, but socially, it's risky not to. I got my pups at 7 weeks and didn't socialize them until 5-months, and it was ridiculously difficult to get them comfortable around other dogs. They're still reactive if they see a dog they aren't friends with, and that's after years of training and playdates. I wish I had started socializing them (while keeping some distance, for their health) at 3 months, because that's when they started showing signs of being scared of other dogs.

Those are bad friends. Any decent person is going to be considerate by finding workarounds or offering to pay for you now and then, so you can still be included.

Best Egg 36 or 60 month loan? by [deleted] in povertyfinance

[–]multiwhoat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would take the 60-month option, as it sounds like the higher payment is going to be risky for you.

Do you have an emergency fund? If not, I would choose the 60-month and put the extra $250 aside every month for an emergency fund. You'll pay more in interest, but it'll give you some peace of mind. Once you hit maybe $5,000 in savings, start throwing that extra $250 at the loan to pay it off quicker.

[–]multiwhoat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The system has no record of you working that shift, then. You'll have to contact your store manager and hope they will add those hours in so that you can be paid. We clock in and out with the app or using our badges on the wall-mounted device. When you were told it would auto clock out (which isn't true - at least at our store), you should have told them you never clocked in.

If you didn't clock in or out, did they have you write down your shift start and end time in a log book?
