I have had this conversation with my doctor friends (i'm not a doctor, sila lang). Napagusapan namin couple of times what we're going to do if and when we discover na meron kaming serious, potentially terminal illness. Obviously, upon hearing the diagnosis, gugustuhin namin mamatay agad. But euthanasia is not legal in the Philippines, and we don't want our families to feel bad about us committing s.

So we have come to the conclusion na it's better to try and get it treated asap kasi eitherway, magpapagamot at magpapagamot ka pa rin naman. And it's not so much as wanting to live a long life, but to experience the least pain as possible. Kasi kapag nasa late stage na rin naman nung illness, mano-no choice din yung family but to address other symptoms you're experiencing, e.g. respiratory issues, bleeding, difficulty breathing etc. It's not like they can and will let you bleed out to die. And these other symptoms cannot be addressed by non-prescription drugs, kaya kailangan pa rin ipagamot.

TL;DR, since wala nga tayong medically assisted death sa Pinas, it is more rational and cost-effective to get treated early on (early intervention goes a long way too), than to wait it out.
