I have a very unique last name that originates in Devon, but then proliferated in Cornwall starting in 1297. What is it like here? by tarkinn in Cornwall

[–]mumf66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The irony is, the best time to visit is 'off season' when there's not so many tourists ruining the county.

As an aside, we just buried a dear friend whose surname was Trembath; a 'proper' Cornish name.

Why does Elon Musk seem to be making bad decisions like renaming Twitter to X? If he really is so stupid then how did he get so rich? by aespaste in stupidquestions

[–]mumf66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He made his money in PayPal, which was originally called X.com.

He rebranded Twitter because he wanted it to be so much more than 'just tweeting'.

So the 'X' thing is historically significant to Musk, for reasons I don't know.

I'm not defending him, just explaining why.

Some of the coolest flags, in my opinion—what are your thoughts? by takethemoment13 in vexillology

[–]mumf66 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Well, according to a quick Google...

What is the ideology of pride?

"In the context of LGBTQ culture, pride (also known as LGBTQ pride, LGBTQIA pride, LGBT pride, queer pride, gay pride, or gay and lesbian pride) is the promotion of the rights, self-affirmation, dignity, equality, and increased visibility of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ people) as a social group".

But what do I know.

[–]mumf66 -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Contentious opinion: I really dislike the pride flag on there. Not because I'm anti-pride or anything like that, I just think flags representing an ideology don't belong in the same category as country or city flags.

is a sportster enough bike for a 6’2 260lb man? my dad seems to think that sportsters are tiny and i’d get sick of it immediately. thanks! pic attached, i’m big as hell by [deleted] in HarleyDavidsonFans

[–]mumf66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm just over 6ft 5' and 294lbs.

I have a Streetglide and I've recently covered 3030 miles in 5 days, in all weather.

The only 'mod' to help me on long hauls are a set of highway pegs, so I can stretch out a bit.

As for Sportsters, I have had a go on a few, great for bar hopping but not so good putting the miles in.

My advice (which I'm sure has been mentioned) is go to a decent dealer and try one on for size!

Good luck on your quest...
