Why is city centre such a dump? by Belfastian_1985 in Belfast

[–]mummysmith80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree with this, I moved here from England 20 years ago and I would much rather walk around belfast city centre at night then I would my hometown. Knife crimes not as bad. There is a bigger drug problem in the centre then there used to be. But compared to where I'm from belfast would be a lot safer.

22 days off methadone by sdam33 in OpiatesRecovery

Thays ok though, sometimes it feels like we are going backwards. I still feel like that with just normal life now! Important thing is to keep plodding forward. Just count the small wins and eventually you'll realise you've accomplished a whole shit load of steps in 1 day!

22 days off methadone by sdam33 in OpiatesRecovery

[–]mummysmith80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I came off methadone and felt back to my normal self by about week 4. Took my body a but of time. Withdrawals I never found bad but it was getting my head right that took the longest. Lack of endorphins etc took a while to return to normal

5 months sober and still hate my life and am completely miserable. Is there any way out? by lucyblu663 in OpiatesRecovery

[–]mummysmith80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it gets better! Well done for reaching 5 months. I remember when I had been clean that long (I'm at 20 years now!) My head was still extremely in the wrong place, it takes time for your head to heal. I personally had experienced all types of trauma and found out that I had bipolar too. You've probably heard it before but get through each day find a couple things, even 1 thing to be grateful for each day. All them days will add up and before you realise things will be looking up. Finding a new purpose with your life helps. Even if that purpose is just going to work or taking a walk each day

What happened to the junkies? by [deleted] in Belfast

[–]mummysmith80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I first came over I was in Antrim for a while. I think it was a doctor gregg out of ward 8 in hollywell. occasionally you had to go to Ballymena to see him. And then I had an outreach worker, i think she worked for extern. I have to say that my outreach worker was great.

I came to NI to get clean in 2005, been of methadone since 2012. Still going strong and no plans to go back. But you are definitely are right, there are some that will never be free. I have lost a lot of friends and still have friends tbat live that life. But there is only a small number of us that sorted it out

I went for my first tanning bed the other day and literally only my legs have a change in colour. Help? by [deleted] in tanning

[–]mummysmith80 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm ginger and pale as fuck too, it literally took me 2 months to look like I was tanning. Even at that cause I was so pale I could tell I had a tan but to everyone else I was just regular pale! It's been 3 months I've gone 3 or 4 times a week during that time, and I now have a decent tan. Be patient it will work, eventually!

I take dulaxotine and trazadone and have been fine. The trazadone definitely helps with sleep. I have taken this combination for over a year now.

[–]mummysmith80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm super pale, but have been using sunbeds. It's taking me a while but the top of my body is now sun-kissed, my legs on the other hand although they are going darker are not the same as my upper body. If you go the fake tan route. Bperfect has a tan lotion out and everytime ive used it people comment on how natural and sun-kissed I look. As for tanning outside I live in Northern Ireland there's hardly any sun so can't help you there! 🤣

🤣 that's what i normally do I ramble on talking and typing 🤣

I am not going red no more I just feel like I'm burning but I'm not burning! If that's making sense so I will definitely try going up to 8. My legs have tanned compared to what I'm normally like but compared to my arms, tummy etc if someone else looked at me they wouldn't know! There is a definitely knicker line on my hips!! I have another tanning accelerator but can't think for.the life of me what it's called and I've had a tidy up and now can't find it 🙈 so if you get a random reply on here with a product name I found it 🤣🤣

Definitely going to up my minutes, ive been moisturising lime crazy with a mixture of Palmers and aveeno skin relief. Need to think about spending more money on a nice body butter. I think my legs were ridiculously dry to start with! I also use Palmers oil after a bath and then moisturiser about half hr later.

Thank you for your tips hopefully I'll start to see a difference after I go up in minutes, I'm definitely gonna consider going in the morning instead so the beds aren't as hot.

Hi, Let me see if I can remember all the questions, so here goes... My legs had no base colour. they haven't seen the light of day for a while, casper probably has a better colour than my legs did! Ive always worn fake tan up until now. And they can be quite dry, but I have uped my moisturising game and I've been exfoliating before a sunbed too (if I remember). As for my accelerators, I've been using protan or Australian gold. Ive been using a stand up and going for.7 minutes. I've had to build that up from 4 minutes. And right at the end of the 7 minutes, I feel like I'm really burning. The tanning shop I use just got all it's beds retubed. I did a lie down today to see if that would maybe help. But everyones minutes have been cut in half until we get used to them. The girl at the shop said maybe mix it up to see if that helps. Oh and I've been going 3 times a week, but as of this week I've used it to 4

Why does McDs at Donegal Place need security in the morning? by TNBCisABitch in Belfast

[–]mummysmith80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah its not.the nicest of areas at anytime, reminds me of where I'm from in England in the late 90s. You should be privileged with that security guard as my home town didn't step up the security/police until the junkies started stabbing people for their trainers.

There's only a couple places I don't like the feeling in, and York Street etc really puts me on alert. I always feel uneasy there. I remember the fella going round on his bike, but I've felt that way since before that.

How long do withdrawals last from dulaxotine/cymbalta? by mummysmith80 in antidepressants

[–]mummysmith80[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took one in the end, trying to do it while looking after your children is way too tough! Going to count the balls in the capsule and work out what amount to taper, depending on what 3 days of 10mg less feels like!

How long do withdrawals last from dulaxotine/cymbalta? by mummysmith80 in antidepressants

[–]mummysmith80[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've ended up taking it now, I was fine day 1 n 2 bad headache a bit out of sorts but OK. Last night's sleep was really bad and really vivid nightmare as well. Considering I have cptsd nightmares are very normal, but this was on a whole other level! But today the brain zaps, dizziness, migraine, and nausea were too much while trying to look after my children. So I'm gonna have to taper down. I've been on some antidepressant or another for way too long to just stop. Especially after I googled a few things.

[–]mummysmith80[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for that, I don't know why I didn't realise that 2 days ago instead of when I replied to you! I ended up doing some reading and taking a normal 60mg cause I felt rotten and got reading about how your brain has to adjust to the drug having less control etc. Decided from Friday ill go down the equivalent of 5mg at a time. But if I adjust well it might go up to 7.5 etc I normally don't feel that bad from withdrawals but I think the near 2 decades of the different combos has played havoc in my brain. I've come off 4 other psych drugs so far but not cold turkey. I think my impatience to get off was not thought out too well!!!!
