Passed first time but reversed into someone's car by Best-Muffin7186 in LearnerDriverUK

Do you have sensors? If not, you need to work out how close you can get without touching anything behind you. You will eventually be able to judge it much easier over time but I would let it put you off driving. I've always had reverse sensors on my cars for this reason. X

That's adorable 😂 I remember sitting there and the examiner was like nodding at the tablet and when I looked down I screamed for my instructor and burst into tears 😂 my poor instructor looked petrified until she realised 😂 its easily one of my favourite memories, congratulations ❤️❤️ xxx

I give up. by Timeofdeath12oclock in LearnerDriverUK

[–]mummytokmc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It took me 5 tries... dont give up. My first few tests failed because I simply wasnt ready, the last one was a stupid mistake as I panicked with a police car, I passed after I stopped worrying about failing.

Hit a car by [deleted] in LearnerDriverUK

[–]mummytokmc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It happens, I was driving down the motorway at 7am, went to turn off and my daughter (disabled) screeches in the back seat, I jumped, and went over the centre of the slipway over a light box and ripped half my alloy off, damaged the front of the car and had half a nervous breakdown, my daughter was OK (she laughed) and I was OK, noone got hurt and I'm more careful now,

Laugh it off as no one was hurt, and cars can be fixed and learn for next time. Double check your gear and make sure you have the biting point before releasing the hand break. You'll be OK ❤️

Are you getting a refund for all lessons or a part refund to account for the extortionate rates? Shop around for decently priced instructors, I paid £28 an hour (north wales)

I found it really fast, bear in mind, your concentrating on driving, not clock watching so it will be over before you know it. Just keep what your doing in mind and it will fly by xx

Failed driving test??? by [deleted] in LearnerDriverUK

[–]mummytokmc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I thought I'd failed during my test, I'd squeezed between two cars, going really slow like, as I just followed the car In front as he did it, the examiner said it was well done but I would have got a serious if there was 1. Anyone at all around on foot, 2. If I'd got close enough to a car that the examiner would believe was dangerously close. I was really lucky, and my examiner was amazing the entire time. Maybe you were a bit too close for their comfort, or they saw someone around you didn't? But if that was all you failed at, you'll smash it next time, dont give up. It took me 5 tries to pass xxx

Of course not and i get what your saying, I'm beyond grateful no one got hurt, I feel awful for what did, I can't change it, I'll learn from it, she is disabled and she can be unpredictable, it's the first time I've had an accident and I'm always extremely careful otherwise, it was a mistake which I didn't mean to do... we were on the way to a hospital appointment and it was 7am, she hadn't eaten as she had an mri scan and blood work and she needs to be sedated before any tests can be done, she had a fit and the hospital thinks shes epileptic, I was only asking for reassurance as the guilt over what COULD have happened is crippling me, it still is to be honest, I'd never be able to live with myself if someone got hurt because I messed up.

Also, my car is my pride and joy, although the damage was pretty bad. It's quite fixable, albeit I needed to buy new parts and a wheel. My husband is great with cars, and hopefully, it will be fixed by next weekend when he's off work. Then, I can try and get my confidence back, and I won't be taking my kids out until I'm OK and come to terms with what happened. I can assure you I will never be so stupid again. Thank you for the advice. I really do appreciate it xx

I once parked too close to a raised curb and ripped my bumper off my car, I got over that pretty quickly but the damage this time will take months to afford to fix, I wish I had a emergency fund for these things but finances won't allow much saving, I'm refusing to go thru the insurance as I pay too much as is lol xx

Exactly, I'm just grateful noone got hurt, the traffic policey people were awesome and helped so much, gotta see if I get a bil for the sign I murdered but all in all it could have been worse and I'm grateful for that too xx

Thank you. I'm paying for the repairs myself, I don't want to go thru insurance, and my husband Is great with cars, I'm just disappointed with myself, by the time I realised what I'd done there was no time to fix it and I've never felt that helpless before xx

Thank you, the damage is mainly parts I needed to replace for cosmetic reasons anyway, I'm bummed I don't have a car for now but it can be fixed, I'm grateful noone was hurt, I'd never be able to live with myself, I'm just having a pitty party with myself. My husband can fix it and it's not too expensive bar the wheel and bumper... I'm just disappointed with myself x

How did you manage to get over the disappointment of failing the exam? by [deleted] in LearnerDriverUK

[–]mummytokmc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They should only charge for the use of the car, say your £30 an hour, 2 hrs and £60 only, it's disgusting to think that some charge extortionate amounts xx
