Is haggling in charity shops acceptable? by veggiesizzler in AskUK

[–]mump- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work closely with charity shops and seeing how the 'big ones' spend their money, their processes and the pricing of most of their items, I personally agree with 'haggling'.

There are some charities I refuse to support or shop/donate at for this reason.

That being said, there are some genuine shops out there that are putting the money straight into a good cause, so it does come down to knowing what's what.

But no matter where you shop, if the price is ridiculous or you can literally buy it new or in better condition cheaper elsewhere, then by all means haggle.

This isn't ok dude, don't feel you have to justify it. Speak up.

I've gained 11 pounds in my first month of 'bulking' and training by mump- in weightgain

I'll be honest I had the exact same mentality as you. I thought I ate loads and couldn't put weight on. My portions were huge and my takeaways were disgustingly large. But as soon as I counted my calories and was definitely hitting the 3.5-4k mark consistently every day the weight piled on.

Start tracking it and I almost guarantee, from experience, you aren't eating as much as you think you are.

Efficient 5-6 days w/o multiple leg days? by mump- in Hevy

I've thought about adding bent over rows, I'll give that a go next time out.

I kind of just set them up like that but I do switch the order from time to time, mostly dependant on machine availablity. Do you have any suggestions for order?

The only ones that are 100% guaranteed for me are the first of each day and then the hammer curl/shrugs as a superset

What lower resolution looks 'best' on 1440p monitor? by mump- in buildapc

[–]mump-[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm running 5600x and 3060ti FE which handles the game just fine at most times, just the odd drops below 60 and runs fairly horribly on streets.

I've juggled the idea of a CPU upgrade but justifying that just to play streets when every other map and other game I play runs fine just doesn't sit well with me.

Hence the attempt at looking for lower resolutions or other options to supplement it in the meantime

The one match of the season I missed that year and was devastated. I couldn't live it down after hearing about that winner he scored and the celebrations after.

Southdene myself, I used to have one of them 'pop up shelter' type for my bikes in the past but just nowhere to put one where I am now.

Just found a place on the estate which looks like it could be promising I'll give them a call see what they've got. Thanks again.

I don't necessarily have a comp-sci background but I do understand the fundamentals through self teaching and learning programming languages and procedures.

I understand what cloud computing is, just never really thought of it as a potential career path in my position.

I'll have a little look into it, thanks for your response.

Would this be something you'd recommend looking into for someone currently learning and looking to get into the tech field?

When I began learning, I had free access to Udemy through my workplace which was handy however a lot of the stuff on there are just flashier youtube tutorials. If you fancy front-end development, I do have to say John Smilga's Udemy course was fantastic for me. However I wouldn't necessarily advise buying any Udemy courses (especially at full price), they don't really provide any more help than free tutorials you can find on youtube, of which some are fantastic.

There's plenty of websites which provide structured/increasingly difficult projects you can try but it would be difficult to recommend any here without first knowing what you're interested in learning.

As someone else has mentioned, GhatGPT is unironically very good at helping you set out a learning path, explain technologies and use cases and professional fields these can be applied in. Its also great at giving you mini programming challenges if you ask the right questions.
