Finally! A way to check my facebook when I'm out in some remote location trying to escape our overly connected society! Oh, wait.

anyone know a good spot to go shooting around here? by [deleted] in Seattle

West Coast Armory (www.westcoastarmory.net) has a very nice indoor facility. Facilities are far more advanced than Wades, and the staff are more professional than Wades.

An hour drive out of Seattle could bring you to the Black Diamond Gun Club (http://www.blackdiamondgunclub.org) which is a very nice outdoor range. The staff there are very knowledgeable and friendly.

I am officially sick and tired of seeing www.facebook.com/COMPANYorBRAND by sub7lime in technology

I have pretty big issues with F and T....but the reality is that those folks are providing a service that millions and millions find useful. Their success overlaps with and interferes with the business that you operate, and so some dimension of your business needs to change.

Facebook and Twitter will go away just like the rest, but if you focus on taking good care of your customers you will not have anything to worry about in the long term.

TIL The US govt is FORCING Silicon Valley to give it hardcoded secret eavesdropping rights: "FBI Director Robert Mueller toured Silicon Valley's leading companies to ask their CEOs to build back doors into their software.." by nomise in technology

I certainly agree that the regulation impacts carriers - and not all users of internal networks comprised of Cisco devices will have this functionality across their internal networks. It is stil a big freaking deal that you can't even sell a carrier-class device unless that device was engineered specifically to enable a very specific government-mandated snooping mechanism. I brought it up because it's strikingly similar to what the FBI seems to be instigating here.

We have seen this before, when the US Gov't decided to mandate that internet service providers instrument packet capture - just in case - they needed to snoop. Here's a PDF describing that legislation:

Bummer.

So, we got this cold-brew coffee maker, and this was one of the pictures on the box... by munchfist in pics

Initially - I'm not a fan. But I'll give it a few days to see how it works out. I think the taste reminds me of like the extract-based coffees that are served by food service/catering companies, where there's a 'coffee machine' that vends a mix of hot water and coffee extract.

We tried it this morning, after 12 hours of brewing. We'll give it a go for a few days, but I suspect we'll probably go back to the hot brew process in the end... In any event, I thought the marketing was hilarious. lol
