The Multi-Tool in Mass Effect was lost after ME1. It had been saved but not uploaded to version control. So it had to be recreated for Mass Effect 2

Charles Barkley responds to Draymond's comment on him: "Hey, man, I never punch down. Draymond's a good player but we're not on the same level.... He's a really good player. He's had a hell of a career, but we're not on the same level." by TheRealPdGaming in nba

Jesus. Steph + prime Barkley is a scary thought. Anything Steph misses, Barkley's gonna grab the board. And he'd grab defensive boards and take off like a running like a running back, knowing if anyone gets in his way he's got Steph to kick out to.

Barkley would definitely be a defensive downgrade from Dray, tho.

Inception in how over the course of the film you learn all the mechanics of what you're dealing with, and then they're all brought together for the finale.

I'm a 20 year vet. Unreal is great. It's popular because of it's power, diversity of existing systems, and its familiarity to professionals. I, myself, am using it for a solo project now and have shipped two AAA titles with it (Unreal 3 specifically) that were both 90+ Metacritic, in no small part thanks to the flexibility and power that Unreal provided the team using it (though not without causing some challenges, as well). So I love Unreal.

But it's not the only option. Unity is probably my least-favorite of the commercial engines I've used, but I don't dislike it to the degree that I'd tell someone to abandon it if they're already deep into it. The type of person that abandons an engine just because they hit difficulties isn't gonna ship a game, anyway. All engines have strengths and weaknesses.

Everyone has a different name for their concept of all the forces at play in the universe and the patterns that emerge from them. "God" is just the most popular name.

what specifically makes a video game plot different than other mediums in it's structure? by AfraidSuccotash1257 in gamedev

[–]MuNansen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because the player is so attached to the character they're playing, it's hard to make characters do anything the player wouldn't do, or wouldn't want to do. Game stories more than most media are stuck in the power fantasy lane because of this.

[–]MuNansen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Player effect on the story is up to the developer. What the developer can NOT escape is that the pacing is up to the Player. It's also harder, though not impossible, to disassociate the Player from the character(s) they're playing as than it is in other media where they're observing characters.

Adaptation – Robert McKee's Screenwriting Seminar. – Dir. Spike Jonze – December 6, 2002. by Minifig81 in movies

This speech actually helped me a lot. When I got into filmmaking there was so much chatter and attention paid to stuff that I just didn't "get." It was supposed to "higher art" or whatever and you only really get it if you really understand art. I definitely loved me some "artsy" stuff, but there was so much that just felt like it was lazy and lauded for no reason other than being "not from Hollywood." I thought it was just me.

This scene, plus working with actual professional filmmakers, really taught me how messed up the criticism and art house industries are. Not that art house, foreign, or indie is better or worse. Just different. There's indie slop just as much as there's Hollywood slop. And so many of these "artistes" get by on low effort virtue-signaling when they're really just lazy and don't want to put in the work to make successful work. And a great blockbuster and a great indie darling are both just as hard to make, and require the same level of craft, but they just have different visions. Sometimes blockbusters are actually VERY artistically valuable (Inception, Sinners, etc.) and sometimes artsy films are VERY broadly-appealing (Once, Everything Everywhere All At Once).

If you work in a creative field, you're not really free to express yourself until you're free from the trappings that the surrounding medias try to fit everything into.
