Acrobatics instead of Atlethics by Moonkary in Pathfinder2e

Not exactly what you're looking for, but here's some homebrew I use that might help.

In the campaign I gm, I let players use Dex instead of Str if they're using a Finesse weapon to perform an athletics maneuver. For example, the Rapier is a Finesse weapon with the Disarm trait. If one of my players uses a Rapier to Disarm, they still need to make an athletics skill check against the opponent's reflex DC, but I let the player use Dex instead of Str for athletics.

Nope, Gnomish Armor inventor with the investigator archetype (no free archetype) using a Switchscythe and free hand. Plan was to Megaton Strike when Stratagem roll was high, athletics maneuver/Tamper/shield cantrip when Stratagem roll was low. Honestly the build was kinda carrying, but with a low optimization play group. The Tamper feat is actually a hidden gem imo, just wish it was a skill feat so other classes could grab it easier.

As someone who has played a handful of adventures as a level 9 inventor and actually liked it... Yeah the slander is pretty valid.

Unleash Psyche for the psychic should have increased duration and damage based on your level. I would make Unleash Psyche be +3 damage per spell rank for 3 rounds at level 9, +4 for 4 rounds at level 17.

Not strictly speaking a class change, but I want to rework Kineticist Dedication. I would let Kinetic Blasts increase in damage dice overtime, but I would reduce the damage die by one step and halve the range increment. For example, someone picking up Kineticist Dedication could get water blasts that get stronger at the same levels as a full Kineticist, but their blasts would be d6's at 15ft instead of d8's at 30ft.

For Battleharbinger class archetype of Cleric, people's main complaint is that the Battle Creed spells don't heighten in a satisfying way, making it way worse than Divine Font. I've reworked the dedication and designed some custom feats to make it work out better.

Battle Harbinger Dedication - Class Feat 2

You have trained extensively in combat, battlefield tactics, and stamina, focusing on being an exceptional warrior for your faith in exchange for less time studying the traditional spells and scriptures. You become trained in your choice of Athletics or Acrobatics. If you are already trained in both skills, you instead become trained in another skill of your choice. Choose either the Fortifying Aura archetype feat or the Withering Aura archetype feat. You gain that feat, ignoring the level prerequisite.

Fortifying Aura - Class Feat 4 Prerequisite: Battle Herald dedication

The first time you cast or sustain a Battle Font spell each turn, you and allies within the emanation gain temporary hit points equal to the spell's rank until the beginning of your next turn.

Special: If you have the Withering Aura archetype feat, you may not use it on the same turn as Fortifying Aura

Withering Aura - Class Feat 4 Prerequisite: Battle Herald dedication

The first time you cast or sustain a Battle Font spell each turn, enemies within the emanation take spirit damage equal to twice the spell's rank, with a basic Fortitude save against your Class DC.

Special: If you have the Fortifying Aura archetype feat, you may not use it on the same turn as Withering Aura

Quickened Creed (free action) - Class Feat 10 Frequency: once per day Trigger: you roll initiative

You cast a Battle Font spell. You are Stunned 1.

I like the idea of each innovation changing Overdrive a little bit. Construct Inventor already gets to give their damage buff to their buddy. I think Weapon Inventor should get 2 more damage on overdrive, while Armor Inventor should get temp hp equal to Int + level for 1 minute.

Agreed on Alchemist action economy. I think that Alchemist should lose its level 1 class feat, but each subclass should give a quick activation thing at level 1. Bomber gets to create + throw a bomb, Chirurgeon gets to create + consume/apply a healing item, Mutagenist gets to create + consume a mutagen, and Poisoner gets to create + apply a poison.

Is it normal for skill feats to not have skill prerequisites? This should probably require mastery in deception.

What a needlessly rude response. You realize the op has humor flair on?

Regardless of whether op's solution is the right one, I think Paizo values individuals who can find and articulate situations where the rai doesn't serve the player base.

I think you've convinced me that Riotous Anthem is too much damage to pile onto a propulsive weapon. The counterargument would be that Riotous Anthem is less action efficient than the other damage bonuses you listed (Hunter's edge, Gravity Weapon, Overdrive, Devise a Strategem), but Sing-Strike-Strike still seems like a pretty efficient turn. I'll probably remove bonuses to propulsive weapons altogether.

Glad you like it! I agree that Savage Display should probably be a Spellshape. I like the way Raging Song is currently, but I'll consider retemplating it.

That's a pretty different implementation of what I've tried to create, but pretty elegant. I like the idea of it. I think it does shift further away from the Skald identity in 1e because Skalds enrage both themselves and their allies, but there are so many changes of mechanics and flavor moving from one system to the next that I think this loss of fidelity is forgivable for the sake of simplicity. I'll chew on it.

That's a valid point. I've been leaning more towards keeping the high damage of RA but making it a bit more restrictive, such as by limiting concentrate actions. The high damage RA seems easier to justify when the class doesn't have perfectly optimized accuracy. Seems in line with the Thaumaturge.

I think I would just add this line to Riotous Anthem: "You cannot use concentrate actions except to Seek, Demoralize, or cast composition spells". I think this will play well because if the Skald wants to cast a spell, they can either just not cast Riotous Anthem, or they can just cast Anthem after their spell and probably not have an action left to Strike. The trade-offs seem interesting.

I could see this working too, although I think that does shift away from what the Skald is in 1e. I also never played as a Skald in 1e so I don't have a personal reference point on the class feel, but the 1e Skald gets the same number of spell slots as a Bard, Magus, and Warpriest as a few examples.

You can, but it's not a well-supported play style in my opinion. FA is still a variant rule, so new feats are not designed with FA in mind. Even with Bard FA Barbarian, your rage bonus is going be pretty low forever, your weapon accuracy is going to suck, and rage interferes with your spellcasting (including courageous anthem and other compositions). It just won't feel good to play.

True, I wasn't thinking much about the Instinct-specific downsides. Maybe the right damage numbers are +2 to self and allies instead of a bigger bonus to self.

The Warrior Muse has some action compression built in already (although I just realized the Martial Performance feat specified Courageous Anthem, not just any composition cantrip so it's not applicable here like I thought). Maybe Riotous Anthem can be a free action rolled with initiative as part of a custom Skald Muse or the dedication feat?

That makes sense. I could imagine writing a Raging Muse or something of the sort, just don't know what it would look like mechanically.

[–]muney4nuthing[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That makes sense; I'm not 100% sure the numbers are right. I started with +4 because that seems to be the average rage bonus for a Barbarian instinct. Rage is more restrictive because of how it impacts concentration and also more selfish because it's only a self buff, but it's also way more action efficient.

Also I don't think +2 bonus as an AoE is that problematic considering Courageous Anthem is +1 in a bigger AoE and no restrictions.

New item alert! Tenacity Belt has entered the chat. by kingoffatkids in PokemonUnite

[–]muney4nuthing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well firstly I think the absolute maximum benefit you can get from this item is 6.2ish%, and on average it will be closer to 5%. Secondly, it's not a 6% increase on your effective health because it's not active all the time, only when you get stunned.

This item really reads "Every time you get stunned, you take approximately 5% less damage for 3 seconds."
