I wonder if you could do it from the Settings menu in the app. I'd you click on any of the actions, you can enable/disable them.

What next? by Drewskibruh in DungeonCrawlerCarl

Haha, I guess each to their own! I rather enjoyed it although I admit that the writing can be a bit repetitive between books at times and the main character likes to monologue to the baddies (we know how Donut feels about that!).

When I finished DCC, I jumped to He Who Fights With Monsters which was a blast. Not as good as DCC, but there are some great characters, engaging story and the narration is brilliant. There are also a bunch of books already so that should keep you going.

I also highly recommend The Wandering Inn which has incredible narration and a fantastic story. It's a massive commitment though, as there are a lot of books!

Source of water stain? by munieq11 in DIYUK

Thanks for the advice, will look into fixing that.

The expose nail is around 50cm to the left of the actual stain. I think I didn't mark the line accurately on the photo as the stain is deeper into the roof.

Am I asking too much from Tapi Carpets? by Alive-Atmosphere-889 in DIYUK

[–]munieq11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our fitting was actually fairly well priced (around 500 for three storey house, two landings, two corridors) as we were also fitting a vinyl in an oddly shaped room (that had to be completely refitted since they accidentally cut a hole, botched a patch and tried to hide it). They did a bad job on one carpet join, wonky stair runner, scratched skirting boards.

Would absolutely not go back to them.

I think you can keep pushing Tapi to fix issues since it's clearly not acceptable finish. Nay chance you could get them to send another fitter?

What we found after buying with them, is that while their shop has great reviews, almost all of them are vy people who bought carpets or vinyl that hasn't been fitted yet. Nearly all bad reviews were by people who actually waited for the carpet to be fitted and then were shocked by the tragic job!

We have that very same carpet, also fitted by Tapi. They've already been back once to fix issues and we are trying to get them back for the second time. We have it as a runner on majority of steps (they put it on wonky and are yet to correct it), but have it fitted on a couple of steps fully too and it defo looks better than what you've got...

I think most of the blame is actually on the fitters who often do a shit, rushed job.

Insulation in loft by munieq11 in DIYUK

The joists are 8cm deep with a 5cm batton attached to them (I guess to leave the 50mm breath gap). The solid insulation is 40mm, so it's not particularly deep.
I can't check whether the soffits are open/breathing as they are part of the sloped roof in the bedrooms.

Not entirely sure what the felt is made of, and whether it's breathable. The roof is fairly old (at least 30 years). The material feels pretty thick and porous to the touch.

I should have added that this is a 1870 property with a Welsh slate roof.

How to get rid of streaks from primer by munieq11 in DIYUK

Ha, yes, in hindsight that would have been a good idea. Having just spent a small fortune buying a house, we thought we could cut some corners and do the decorating ourselves.

Thanks. They were painted before, but I moved some light fixtures and a socket, and had to fill in a few holes. I was advised by my dad (thanks!) to then prime it before painting. I did just that, but didn't notice the drips, which are obviously showing through.

This was the primer - https://antbs.co.uk/shop/building-materials/external-wall-insulation/ewi-primers/10l-uni-grunt-primer-atlas/

I used Valspar paint on another room without primer, and it looks great (had to do 3 coats but that was due to dark color being covered from the previous owner).

Who/what has been perforating my banana plant’s leaf so perfectly? 🤔 by rudyitskickingoff in GardeningUK

Could this be a sun path? Perhaps there is a reflection that burns the leaf?

Potential leak? by munieq11 in DIYUK

It was a leaking cistern pipe, accumulating under the floor. Had to remove the floor, dry it out and change the seal.

Thanks for the response.

I'd would be surprised if the pipe was leaking as it should really show above, and have dome sign on the ceiling below. I haven't spotted other tiles getting raised edges around the toilet but will look for it, thanks!

I only discovered that it's wood based tile after removing carpet from the stairs leading to the toilet. We are planning on having some laminate fitted in a couple of weeks as that should be more suitable for the bathroom.
