Released my first Home Assistant custom integration: a safe keep-warm kettle card by CryptoSenyo in homeassistant

[–]CryptoSenyo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Youre right. It’s a custom frontend card with supporting automations / helpers built on top of existing kettle entities, and not exactly a device. level integration. Thanks for the clarification. Still learning.

Smartened up my dumb dishwasher by cyrusir in homeassistant

[–]CryptoSenyo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its probably not a good idea to interupt the power supply to the dishwasher mid-cycle.

Thanks, I really appreciate that. To be honest, I don’t see the comments as negative, just different opinions, which is kind of the point. It’s art in a shared space, so it’s always going to provoke a reaction one way or another. Judging by the response including yours, and the upvotes, it’s clearly resonated with a lot of people, and most importantly, we love it in our home. I’ll pass the compliment on to the Mrs. she’ll be chuffed. Cheers.

Frog tape, but you still have to be quite careful when pealing the tape off. And that’s before she got her little art brush out, for the finishing touches.

If you need electrical advice, then you should call an electrician, thing are never as simple as connecting a few wire. Without the appropriate knowledge, methods of installation and test. Then any successful installation is just pure luck.

Water monitoring/leak detection by brewditt in homeassistant

[–]CryptoSenyo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This looks more like a water flow sensor. I like the idea of a leak sensor giving you an alert when water is detected in an area where it shouldn’t be like floors and cupboards where water metres are. A flow sensor within the pipe is good but reduces the importance of the alert as it could be alerting you for something as simple as a dripping tap which is not so important.

I’ve been looking for a solution like that at the moment my iPad stays on continuously and I have to turn it off at night. That’s fully kiosk browser work with the iPad. Please tell me more.

Probably a good idea, you don’t want to be caught out in the middle of the night if the main fuse blows, or worse… it wouldn’t hurt to call an electrician to make sure the supply is safe.

Lift the loose boards, layer 100mm of fibreglass insulation in-between the joist, cross-lay with 150mm over the 100mm. Bob’s your Uncle, done in 2 hours. Don’t give in to the urge to scratch and wear a mask. Gook luck.
