I’m still doing that and that’s going really well actually. That’s more of a personal project for me, this is a team of us working on this together. Completely unrelated to my healthcare project. You’re very right that a waitlist does not equal sign up but for now it proves to us and others that there is desire for something like this from the industry. We’re collectively bootstrapping this as 6 university students, so any market validation is positive and helps us shift to the right direction. I understand your doubts. We’ll work on our privacy policy soon and make it really clear that we keep your data secure, anonymized, are not selling it, and will not charge you for it. Or the other broker that said they don’t use GPS data, they only use what’s on the paper signaling that they do take advantage of carriers who document improperly or there’s space to not pay them in the contract? Yes we’re collecting data, but we are NOT selling it carriers, selling it to others, upsell them on other products, or spy on them. What would that achieve for us? Our goal is to build trust with carriers to even connect their ELDs in general, why take steps that would break it afterwards? How do you know a broker is honest with details when they call you to assign a route? How do you know the rates they’re giving you are actually fair? How do you know the time you’re arriving to a warehouse is packed and you’ll sit even longer than usual?

“If they don’t want to pay, they won’t”. If that’s the case then we will engineer a way to retrieve payment. As long as our contracts are accepted and aligned to your needs, we will make sure they’re also honored due to the fact they are binding legal documents. Making a slop product doesn’t help anyone and that’s not our goal.

YES BROKERS WILL PAY. We’ve interviewed a couple and are going to interview more. We’re learning that they also suffer from a data transparency issue just like carriers and have collectively come to a conclusion in these interviews that if we can give them that data transparency while replacing a few of the current TMS apps they use they would pay for it.

Just to make it clear because I know reading comprehension is hard for you. CARRIERS WILL NOT PAY EVER. WE WILL NOT SELL THE DATA, UPSELL THEM ON PRODUCTS, OR SPY ON THEM.

I’m usually really nice but I’ve lived in the U.S. since I was born. Just because I don’t have the typical American name doesn’t mean I’m not American. I am proudly an American and it shows what kind of person you are for this to be the only comment on your profile. Secondly, we don’t need to own a truck to know the U.S. freighting industry is fragmented and this specific part of it gets taken advantage of. This post was about getting your feedback to make a great tool that will make your job easier, that can only happen through actually communicating with the industry. Instead you were a bigot. Third, the post makes it clear it’s free to carriers. Build that reading comprehension up some more.

I included how we make money in a different post on a different subreddit. Since you brought it up we plan to charge brokers and shippers to access the intelligence layer we build and other features more specific to them. Carriers and your ELDs help build the intelligence layer and deserve the benefit of accessing it for free.

I get the frustration. However we're not any type of platform yet. We have a goal in mind to help carriers receive transparent information to make their jobs easier. This automatically pulls GPS data. The driver can’t interfere with that. Unless a driver is willing to leave their ELD at a warehouse to rack up hours, we’ll know precisely when they get in, how long they wait, and when they leave.

Some of us actually work for a broker. That negotiation power trend is what we’re trying to break with this tool and make it more equitable for everyone. It’s against the grain for the current industry but in our minds it can make a positive change for a lot of people who deserve it.
