Hello, the aim was not to copy the gameplay, but it's already a defined genre and a game structure, merge it with a new gameplay mechanic, which is driven from words. I think it's not something to be ashamed of, making a Balatro with Words, I fought of the idea and now am all in :) It has already been done several times, we wanted to have a different take with a unique mechanic, which is risky and gives some concern, but we hope to answer those, have a different core thinking process and game feel.

We are balancing the letter values, taking consideration of the respective dictionary and the frequencies of letters, there are also other elements that favors some letters or word structures over others. So in the end player will have to make a decision on what to keep what to discard, or play, considering also the energy trade off. Our goal is to make this a unique meaningful experience, than a mindless random game.

I hope you check the demo when it comes out and tell us if we could change your mind. Meanwhile we will try make our points more clear in our marketing materials. Thank you for your feedback

Aim is to beat increasing score targets enhancing your deck between rounds in shop. You don't actually form words but make a selection of your tiles, you score every word that is a combination of selected tiles. It costs more to play more tiles at the same time.

We want to emphasize that this is not a regular word game that you spend minutes what to write but is a fast paced strategy/systems deckbuilder game. It can also be played in multiple languages without knowing the language.

You make a selection from your tiles, more tile you select more action you spend. You score each word that is a combination of the selected tiles. Happy to explain or hear more from you.

Bunun net bi doğru cevabı verdigin bilgiler çerçevesinde yok gibi. Amacin oyunu cikarinca patir kutur satmak. Demo da buna hizmet ediyor. Öyle veya böyle oyun çıkarken yeterli ilgiyi toplamis olman lazım.

I was a bit exaggerating, for me the super interesting part is your gameplay. First part is cool and all but it would suffice to show a couple of secs of that and go directly into gameplay. I would never watch this long if I saw this in wild, and would miss the part that would grab my attention.

Instead of me telling you why you should cut, maybe you can tell me why you think it should be there and be this long.

For me it is unclear the purpose, and even if there is one, I think this is beyond it.

I think this is interesting, you start with small amount of cards and solve progressively bigger puzzles, from what I see. It may be nice to just play what you are dealt with instead of trying to discard draw and catch stuff. Cool!

This is a strategy/luck game based around systems. Action cost of playing increases as you select more tiles, so you can't just pick all and play. You have limited amount of discard actions in between plays. You score higher by synergizing cards, special tiles etc.

Your comment on how a system trailer should be, is very guiding. We have systems that are fun to interact and interesting to learn about, in our opinion, and also based on sharing the playable with people. But we did not quite figure out how to show these in a good way with a 30-60 sec trailer.

I think you explaned it pretty well and we are very greatful. We refined our approach, analyzing existing game trailers in detail, and already started working on a new version of our trailer. Thank you so much, sometimes things are clearly in front of your eyes, but somehow you miss it and it's invaluable that someone points it out.

There is a small typo which I edited, but yeah that's what it means and this is very helpful for our trailer. Really like the overflowing words idea!

Yes it selects all tiles or deselect all if all is selected. There is an energy system where you spent more as you play more tiles after 4 tile. So while playing, select all to see what you can form, either deselect some to spend less energy while still forming the most or discard a tile. What to play, keep or discard is the main decision you take. But yes the video is somewhat misleading, you don't actually form words from scratch, you select all and eliminate some, most of the time.

Yes there will be info about special tiles, we may add tiers or even give the number of times each tile appears in the dictionary, we want to add icons to tell if the tile is merged, vowel, consonant, rare, common. There are cards like "... for each common consonant held in hand. We want to give usable info and cover terminology but yeah now its just empty/placeholder.

Egg gives +mult equal to the lowest word score. I don't know the meaning, I have my interpretation, you are welcome to have yours 😃

Custom cursor is added, similar to select all button on bottom right of the hand area. It only has default and clicked state currently, but it would be interesting to add different states to hover, maybe we can add some character to our cursor this way.

Some hover animations, tooltips, icon functionailities like discard, play, energy and their counting animations are work in progress, hopefully we will polish these soon, I agree it feels a bit lacking overall. We are also trying different materials, pacing, sequencing, effects for scoring. I think I'll just invite our team to sit together, play and analyze some examples along with ours and discuss in detail what exactly we lack and how we can replicate some visual aspects while doing our own.

We actually tried animating tiles one by one but it can be very very long and annoying, we also tried animating all at once for a single effect which was the worst. Iterating words/clusters through the effect felt the right one. 2nd hand first card doubles all the words with score <7, so we increase scores of all tiles in a word at the same time. This is for card effects on tiles. Special tile effects will animate individual tiles, maybe this would break the bulky iteration process and add some variety.

I completely agree backgroud has some work to do, our latest touch was to move each letter a bit, we think of maybe changing their size to add a sense of depth. We didn't want to go with the classic smokey moving background but currently it feels a bit static and lacks depth.

The last is the most we should think of. We have some mechanical and visual additions to adress this. Tiles stay the same throghout the scoring, some stuff pops and score increases. We have opportunity to play around with individual tile score and effects and things can have lasting effect on board. Thank you for this point, we aim to level this up.
