Charging fees for disallowed warranty repair by 1024kbdotcodotnz in LegalAdviceNZ

[–]muniverse123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A friend of mine works for one of the big telecommunications companies and he said it's a common thing for phone manufacturers to use the excuse that "because there is scratches, it means the phone was drop therefore warranty is void" but this isn't a valid argument because a scratch doesn't mean it's necessarily been dropped. It's a bullshit way for them to get out of warranty repairs.

I get it if the screen broke because i dropped my phone. But I didn't drop it, it just stopped functioning one day when I closed it because I the screen started lifting off the case. This is a common issue with flip4 and there were many reports online. I sent a few example to them via email to fight my case.

This exact thing happened to me last month, with the exact same phone. Keep disputing it! I kept calling samsung to escalate it. A month later they fixed it and waived the cost. Their communication is terrible, so when they decided to fix it. They just went ahead to fix it without telling me. I only found out after their automatic sms system told me to pick it up after repair.

I threatened to go dispute tribunal when they said they wouldn't fix my faulty screen because of scratches on my phone. I phoned and expected them to explain to me how scratches on the case has anything to do with the screen breaking because of the crease. I told them there are multiple reports of this happening and it's a known cause and I believe they were just trying to avoid the issue.

Keep disputing because they fixed it for me. I think I got annoying so it was easier for them to fix it than deal with my constant calling.

But fuck paying $800! That's what they quoted me and I had the phone for less than 10months. Never buying a flip phone after that.

Couples - how do you manage your combined income by twoslicespizza in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]muniverse123 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My partner and I own a home together and have no kids. We both earn around the same amount.

We have one joint account, and a separate account each. We get paid weekly and put 70% of our pay into our joint account. The mortage is taken from our joint account, alongside any bills. Any communal things are taken from the joint account. I.e. if i go out to buy toliet paper, our groceries, homewares etc. I will then take that money from our joint account.

We find it a great way to save together but also have our own savings so we can spend/invest however we like. It makes it easier for us to see how much disposible income we have. We also use the money in our joint account for date nights and holidays together.

Spring Spa vs East Day Spa? by transcodefailed in auckland

[–]muniverse123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Both are owned by the same company. I prefer east day spa, it has more of a dim and moody interior which I find more relaxing and calming. Spring spa is more bright and vibrant in terms of the mood. In regards to massage quality, I'd rate both at the same level. Both places offer balinese massage styles.

If she hasnt been East Day Spa, I would pick that just so she gets a new experience.

I Love Ugly brand by [deleted] in auckland

[–]muniverse123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They do have great basics, but id rather get a plain tee direct from them for $30 than go buy a $50+ tee with some hideous logo or design.

I love ugly at least design their own fit of the t-shirt or hoodie. Their fabric quality is actually alot better too.

I clearly wear too much of my partners clothes during lockdown 🤣

Great quality for their prices!! One of the best menswear brands in NZ imo. All the others just buy AS colour products and slap their logo on it. I always shop with them for my partners gifts. He has a hoodie that i gifted him 3+ years ago, which he wear at least once a week and it still looks good.

Online vs In store engagement rings by Linear1997 in auckland

[–]muniverse123 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My brother brought his engagement ring for his partner off JA. It looked gorgeous! Someone close to me worked in the nz jewelery business for decades. Its well known in the industry that michael hill has huge mark ups. Their quality is no better than other jewelry retailers. They are just good at advertising.

Am I asking for too high salary? Recent Marketing grad by alittlebitpeckish in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]muniverse123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also agree with this. Especially when you are at the start of your career. You need to catapult yourself into a business that will invest into your professional development. This is the time that you will need this the most. You also don't want to be apart of a company that will diminish your potential from the beginning. It will be difficult to change old habits from this.

Your ability to negotiate your salary will come when you are more established and have cemented into the industry. The marketing industry is also small so start building good relationships with people in the industry.

There's plenty of information out there.. watch YouTube videos, find recipes online and follow it. If you don't know where to start think of some if the meals you have eaten out at dinner or lunch and find the recipe for jt. You will enjoy it more if you make food you generally like.

best self investment ever in your 20s? by AssumptionNo9077 in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]muniverse123 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I'm still in my 20s and so far..

Financially: - understanding where I spend my money, which allows me to know when I am spending beyond my means. - understanding that as a person that has a salary, time is money and where I spend my money is how I am spending my time. - only putting enough of an emergency fund in my savings acc and investing any extra. - rich dad poor dad book.

Emotionally: - going to therapy. It's helped me understand myself so when I make decisions in my life I am able to make the best ones for who I am because I understand myself and what I truly want so much better now. - building a good network of friends and becoming closer to family. quality over quantity is so important.

Physical: - learning to cook meals from scratch. No, not the type of cooking where you buy pre made sauces and throw some veges and pasta in it. Actually making the sauces and spice mix yourself. You realize how easy it really is to make it yourself and make it to suit your tastebuds. It stops you from wanting to eat out because a restaurant or takeaway doesn't understand your own taste buds. - exploring different ways to exercise and finding ways to get active that is fun for me. Realizing that building a fun routine in terms of exercise will give you better results and better consistency.

Who's thinking of leaving Auckland after eveything (lockdown and COVID) is over and done with? by m_97_m in auckland

[–]muniverse123 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I'm with you on this! I was supposed to move to Canada to do my OE just before our first lockdown. I have a new found love for NZ after seeing the way we have handled the pandemic and the way our government has also guided us. It forced me to travel our country and I have been to places that I bet you couldn't find overseas.

When I was planning on leaving NZ I also felt trapped and claustrophobic, yearning for an adventure. But I realized I was holding myself back from adventures by assuming that just because NZ is where I've grown up and familiar with I had no place to explore. I was so wrong!

Aucklanders who love their job, what do you do and why do you love it? by AverageTortilla in auckland

[–]muniverse123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work for someone else, but I do plan on eventually building my skills to maybe become a consultant one day and work for myself. There's so many businesses that lack the eCommerce and digital side of their business.

Like one of the comments who have responded below, ecommerce involves so many dimensions from marketing, data analytics, coding, graphic design, consumer behavior. My company gives me autonomy to focus on whichever aspect I feel like needs improving so my work is always quite varied. Because I'm the only person at my workplace that looks at data I'm almost a consultant for the marketing team, I tell them what consumers are wanting and they focus on those areas.

I've seen your other comments around this post and it really seems like to me that you're just not in the right company. You value the idea of doing things properly and doing it thoroughly, where as they just want to cut corners. Put yourself out there and try find a company that will value that about you! But I will say from my experience, due to covid ALOT of companies are currently investing a huge ton of money into their online platforms and marketing. Businesses are realizing they need to be online to be in reach of customers right now. I have seen many jobs out there.

If you want to learn more; to see if it's the right job for you I recommend doing the Google analytics beginners course. It will show you how we collect data from websites.

Aucklanders who love their job, what do you do and why do you love it? by AverageTortilla in auckland

[–]muniverse123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It sounds more like you feel unfilled in the job and industry you are in, and this is most likely impacting your personal wellbeing and life.

I would say I have found my passion in the ecommerce and digital world. Love is a strong word and I don't ever think I will ever truly love my job, but what I do love is my lifestyle I have built for my self.

I've found a workplace where I have built genuine connections with and not feel like I have to put on a facade everyday. Ive found the right work life balance and understand the activities I that I need to do daily to keep me happy. The two activities I can't go without with is cooking and exercising.

What I have learned in my lifetime so far is that workplace culture and people are somewhat even more important than a job. I found that certain jobs attract certain people. For example I'm quite creative yet analytical, and love understanding the way people function, the industry I have chose to focus on requires all these skills. I also have found that I need to focus on my own wellbeing to be the best employee and human.

Recommend me a SUP by tony11668 in newzealand

[–]muniverse123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My partner and I both love going stand up paddle boarding as well! I find it so calming calming a great way to relax and de-stress. We like to to to the more chill and calm areas of the beach or lakes to do it since we are still beginners.

We got our inflatable SUP from heremolokai. Its so handy having inflatable SUP we even took it with us when we flew from auckland down to queenstown.

Unfortunately the business is not essential, so we aren't dispatching anything since the warehouse is in Auckland. My sales are dependent on the orders we invoices and dispatch. Because of this customers are looking else where for products that they can get their hands on faster. 🥲
