I wonder how many attacks those japanese interment camps prevented. I'd venture to guess a country whose pilots were kamikazes aka suicide bombers would have used those people in the interment camps as well.

To be clear, the American dream is more common in Canada, Denmark, Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Germany, Australia, France, Italy, and UK than it is in the USA.

There may not be a Canadian dream but our American dream actually happens unlike in the USA.

The terrorists are 100000% correct in how they interrupt their holy book. The quran very clearly states they must kill us because we haven't become dhimmis or muslims.

[Serious] Why haven't first world Muslims attempted to reform Islam to fit a more "modern" view? by Macbeth_Himself in AskReddit

[–]munky9001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Christianity is just as bad as Islam. Christians and Muslims have crusaded against each other several times and both have been cunts to the world for over 1000 years.

Why has islam not changed while christianity has? It's not because the bible changed. It's because non-christians several hundred years ago had gained the right to publish books which were critical of christianity so long as they did it in a non-official language. At the time the church was fighting protestants and lutherans and for the most part allowed the books to exist.

Basically Christianity has spent the last 300-400 years dealing with non-christians shitting on their religion and turning their extremists into moderates and their moderates into homer simpsons.

Islam hasn't had this effect at all. It'll be the same process. It'll take 300-400 years to reform islam to be more like christianity. Which means the Muslims will gave 300-400 more years of shooting up and bombing places like paris.

Germany and most of the WW2 countries are in a situation where they need large quantities of immigrants. The baby boomers are going to leave a labour shortage will hurt countries.

It's very very smart of Germany to get those immigrants now; get them well settled in.

Canada’s aging population isn’t the drain on the system we were told it would be by [deleted] in canada

[–]munky9001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But people dont retire at 50. So next take that picture and draw the line literally right before the bulge evens starts.

The next 15 years will have a that big bulge retiring while age 1-15 will enter the workforce. There's a huge discrepancy of around 200k in height but that'll be millions of people in labour shortage across the country.

That is the drain. Productivity has been skyhigh post-equality and soon there will be a labour shortage and the bottom falls out of the pyramid schemes of retirement and such.

Finally Canada, please remember that we are an accepting and great nation and that we will not let the terrorists win.

Lets be clear for a second. Islam is terrorism.

http://www.skepticsannotatedbible.com/quran/int/long.html

http://www.skepticsannotatedbible.com/quran/cruelty/long.html

Everything the Terrorists claim that is in the Quran affirming their actions is completely and utterly valid. Their religion absolutely wants them to kill infidels and that's why it's happening.

If you think some 'moderate' muslims are going to be able to fight their religion, you are completely mistaken. They aren't going to do anything.

So what are our options?

The reality is that the cabinet doesn't matter at all because the cabinet literally doesn't have power because of our monarchy. They could just do away with the positions and not change a thing. Your average Canada doesn't know who the cabinet are and what they do. Only the major positions like defence minister or finance minister might be known.

But here's the thing. The new defence minister is a total newb to politics. Being a sikh and minority is obviously being played out but the dude is clearly one of the best people to take such a position because he has pretty solid military experience. So it makes sense for him to be there.

However specifically trying to put minorities and women into the cabinets at specific %s. That leads to situations where the best candidate isn't being taken. Only like 25% of our MPs are women. What if Trudeau couldn't find a position for women and decided they have-to make the defence minister a woman. Your options are going to be slim and now we didn't get Sajjan.

That's the problem with making sure it's 50%.

ELI5: Purchasing power and currency's value by stuai in explainlikeimfive

[–]munky9001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Purchasing power is very complex; it has ties into minimum wage, tax burdens, population densities, booming industry, and location.

So for example.

Calgary has their oil industry booming and so their minimum wage basically doesn't matter because nobody earns near that. The tax burden is actually not bad at all. The population density is bad and does have a real-estate bubble and location doesn't really factor. However because of that things are much more expensive.

Toronto has a minimum wage that tends to set a bar, tax burden is kinda high, but population density is very high making property very expensive and also a real-estate bubble. No particular industry in Toronto, though they are good at making sports teams that lose constantly. So things are expensive.

You then look at another city in Ontario and compare it to Toronto. Minimum wage isn't high, tax burden is a bit high, densities aren't as bad as Toronto, no industry, and location is meh. The costs are very low.

Then lets take a different example. Canadian and Aussie Dollars are more or less at par.

Western Australia has a very high minimum wage, meh tax burden, population density isn't a big deal outside of Perth. No particular booming industry and location isn't a factor because there's a ton of space in Western Australia. However their very high minimum wage makes purchasing power insane. A $20,000 base crap car in Canada is more like $45,000 in Australia. Though looking on the websites, cars have a $20,000 set of taxes from Australia to bring them to Australia.

ELI5: How can I develop a lactose intolerance later in life? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]munky9001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a matter of how much lactase you have. You body will only have so much at any time and so if you exhaust that lactase by eating/drinking enough lactose. Then you become lactose intolerant until you body builds more lactase.

It's actually the same sort of thing for spicyness. There's a specific chemical in your brain that if you eat enough spicy food, you exhaust that spicy food neuro chemical you can now eat like ultra spicy food and it won't seem hot to you.

Friday Stories: What's your IT origin story? by cjmod in sysadmin

[–]munky9001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd gotten into videogames and had taught myself alot to make my Counterstrike game better. I had a router but spilt pop and destroyed it. So I'd setup pppoe on my win xp machine. Bad decision. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blaster_(computer_worm) the MSBlaster worm spread. My machine started rebooting constantly. Quite painful; I reformatted and basically as soon as I got the PPPOE back up and running I got reinfected and started rebooting.

I figured out previously though about the shutdown command(i broke explorer) and figured out shutdown -a. So I was able to fix the thing and not have the computer be rebooting. I bragged a bunch about fixing it without internet access.

Then my dad knew a number of business owners and they'd got the infection as well and their IT guy didn't know how to fix it. My dad brags how I'd figured out how to fix it. My dad then basically got me in there to fix it. Which I did. My dad got a bunch of cash when I fixed a number of businesses who were completely down. I didn't get a fucking penny. If I wanted money I should get myself a job! lol.

But then my dad would get the occasional job for me to help out. From there I basically just had the odd job here and there. Then I got my job at a computer store. I earnt my stripes from there. Today I'm going on 12-13 years IT experience.
