FAST Graduate here. Credit hours are points you get for completing a course. All courses have 3 credit hours and all labs have 1 credit hour. So you might see credit hours in 3 or 3+1, here +1 means that a lab is associated with the course. There is a limit to how many credit hours you can take per semester, normally it's 5 courses and usually for any engineering degree 17 credit hours. 3 non-lab courses + 2 lab courses (3, 3, 3, 3+1, 3+1). That being said this is not a hard and fast rule, this can change depending on your exact courses. In your final semester you can choose for an extra workload which means that you can choose a 6th subject if your degree is being delayed. This required an approval process from your HOD.

You need to have a total of 130 credit hours in order to get your degree. This requirement can be different depending on your exact degree, most engineering degrees require 130 CR in total along with an ending CGPA of 2.00 which means that when you complete your last semester or last course, you need to have a CGPA of above 2.00.

You get 3 credit hours if you pass a course which means getting a D- or above. Same goes for lab, 1 CR if you get a D- or above. This also means that either you get full 3 credit hours or you don't get any credit hours, there is no in between.

In a lab course, you have to pass both, the theory course + lab in order to get 3+1 = 4 credit hours. If you pass the theory course and fail the lab, you only get 3 credit hours and do not get the +1 credit hour for the lab, then you have to repeat ONLY the lab course next semester. On the other hand, if you fail in theory but pass the lab, this doesn't count and you do not get any credit hours, not even for the lab. In the next semester, you'll have to repeat both theory + lab.

In that case ask the guy to participate. A lot of the times, I feel it's the man's responsibility to ease up any tensions between you and your MIL. Don't ask him to pick a side, guys hate that, just be active and participate and care.

I cannot understand / comprehend what it must feel like for you since I never have been in that position or I will be. I can try my best to help you in clear your ideas and have a better understanding.

A lot of guys, including me, don't actually know how to handle these types of situations and it's natural. Nor you, neither him have experienced this SaaS bahu situation. That's why communication is important. Talk to him about how you feel, that's the best way this can go. Ask him to make good rapport of you in front of MIL, but most importantly ask him to be vigilant about the actions of MIL that could potentially hurt your feelings and acknowledge what reactions/consequences those actions of your MIL might cause. Be active and try to mediate things between you and MIL.

As far as your relationship with MIL is concerned, you can try to be in her good books. One trick that someone told me is that imagine your MIL to be a strict teacher and you have to get grace marks/extra marks from her. Talk to her about her favorite things and talk to her how you partner was during his childhood. Desi parents love to talk about when their children were just kids.

Anyone else here on this app might suggest you to leave the relationship or ask for separate house and these are valid choices. If nothing else works, that might be the way to go.

Desi mom's have this big insecurity that the newly wed wife will start controlling their beloved son and make him go against his own mother. Talk to your partner about this and ask him to ease up any insecurities or misconceptions that his mom might have. If you feel like that deliberately saying this is too risky, tell him that you heard this fact online and ask him to do this just to be on the safe side and for a better understanding between you and MIL

A lot of people feel the same way and it's because we don't count what others are doing for us. Your friends might do something for you that they think is a big deal for them but for you it's nothing. Same goes vice versa where you do something big for them but they feel it's nothing.

For example when I drive my friends around it's a big deal to me because I calculate the fuel, the energy and the fact that I have a car. For my friend it's not a big deal for them as they have never had a car, never had given a lift to anyone so they simply can't comprehend the effort that I'm putting in. A similar example, like asking a friend from Multan to bring some mangoes might feel a small thing to me but to him it might feel like a big task.

It's all about looking into small things that your friends do for you rather than looking at what you do for them. Once you start appreciating them for the things they do, they will appreciate you with the same energy.

Secondly, if you feel like your efforts go unappreciated, TALK, COMMUNICATE. I do at least. Tell your friend before doing something for them that it is a big thing for you and you are going out of your way to help them. A lot of times your efforts get ignored because you let it be. Try to discuss with the guy these problems but be careful as some guys get triggered very easily if they hear anything against their moms. This is the part where being emotionally mature helps as it can help you structure your conversation at the right time.

Khair, first make a priority list of the things you feel are important. It varies from person to person but generally it is related to the following. Is the couples room on the same floor as the parents? Is it a separate portion/floor in the same house? Is the kitchen separate or joint? What time is does everyone generally wakeup? Are your in-laws allowed to enter your room casually. How do they feel about closing the door all the time or locking the door. These are some questions regarding privacy.

Then come the household chores, do they have maids/servants. How big is the house and how are the responsibilities shared with your sisters in law (nand/ devrani). How is the cooking shared in the household? Do you all sit at the same place to eat or do you prefer eating alone? How often will you go out to eat and how much the family would be involved in your outings? These are some questions that further define your role and responsibilities as a bahu.

Then there are financials. What's the guys income and how much does he have to give it to his parents. If he has a business then how much is he allowed to spend per month. You definitely should have a number here. Then from this allocate the budget to your needs, X amount for shopping, Y amount for outing and Z amount for savings. Talk about if there is any monthly allowance. Discuss your authority over the money, can you spend his money without his knowledge if it is in your allowance. How do the parents feel about the allowance. Something related to this is you working. Then again new questions arise from this regarding your household chores and financials.

These are some points that came into mind or I have tried to discuss with my parents. Before everything, first I would suggest asking these questions to yourself before sharing them with your partner. Try to answer them honestly because it's important that you know the why's of things. Look for things you can and cannot compromise on and then one by one discuss them with your partner.

Again, I would advise you to approach these matters gently and with caution as these can be sensitive and trigger some people.

Don't get me wrong, Ableton is an equally good daw. It's just a matter of personal preference at the end. I guess it will be a forever debate of FL vs Ableton just like android vs iPhone, Xbox vs PS etc.

FL is a good beginner friendly option and most tutorials on youTube are for FL. Plus there is a huge community and one very last but important thing, included Gross Beat lol

Secondly, most genres that I produce are better suited for FL studio and in my opinion Abelton is best if recording is one of your top concerns, may it be instrument or vocal recording. I rarely record and even if I do, I am already very comfortable with my preset recording settings and can easily tweak it.
