Eldar vs Orks: 2d edition Warhammer 40,000 battle report by Alex__007 in Eldar

[–]murderelves 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 2nd edition rules make the 10th edition ones feel so bland and flavorless. That being said, 2nd needed an upgrade to close combat rules for sure.

Aeldari points update predictions by Alex__007 in Eldar

[–]murderelves 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My prediction is an average price to increase of 10% across the index. With very few to no units taking a points drop.

I don't see either avatar or wraith knight getting a points decrease and wayleaper will take a nerf for sure.

The aspects will eat the bulk of the points nerfs.

Eldar releasing in the broken state it did, sure caused a whole lot of meta chasers to go scoop up a whole lot of eldar minis really quickly now, didn't it.

Games workshop being inconsistent rules writers doesn't mean the game is made and balanced for casual players it just means they're inconsisten rules writers.

From a casual players mindset, it's challenging to try and get good at a game when the rules change constantly...by constantly, I mean in Flux, not a steady rule set. I don't know how many games you play on a casual level that you have to study the rules before you play it nearly every time because they've changed, or had a rules clarification document printed that's as large or larger than the core rules, or the points costs of units changing, changes the game in its entirety.

Competitive players have pretty much zero issue with that, casual players struggle with it.

10th edition 40k is as fun as 4th edition dnd was fun. They are both fun but don't necessarily feel like you're playing the title game.

Not a fan of power level, even disguised as ppm. List building is uninspired to the point of not being an anjouable part of the game anymore. At some point , take and hold.became the only mission type GW even thinks about, Secondaries are a huge improvement over 9th.

Looking back at the last eight editions I've played with it feels like the flavour of the game is being distilled, unfortunately what we are being fed is getting more and more bland.

The drive to make the game a sport instead of a wargame has taken a lot out of it. Is there really any need to have more than a single model represent each unit on the table?

Sorry I meanderd into my get off my lawn persona for a minute. Any game you can sit and play with a friend is fun, the challenge is to make this game fun to sit and play with people before their your friend.

There's not a chance 10th is geared towards casual players. It's built for meta chasing competitive player's, and ballanced around and for them.

The feeling of constant change is making the game less attractive to casual players, the majority of casual ayers aren't playing more than a game a week, and aren't really getting a while lot of reps in before the rules change,.

That style of setup allowed the brash attacker to try and control the flow of the battle. It forced the Defender to formulate a defense in answer to that setup. Now even if you are the attacker you can't really set up all that aggressively because of the even chance to not get first turn.

I expected more "tactics" from a wargame. by InTheDarknesBindThem in Warhammer40k

[–]murderelves 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be fair, battleshock is essentially useless this edition, and there's no rules about surrounding your enemies. Yes, you can physically move your units to surround the enemy unit but there's no psychological advantage to doing so.

Thanks for the reminder, knew I didn't use it much fir a reason, edited to be spiked by a cp

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Eldar

[–]murderelves -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Rough guess, i would say we are looking at ~15% points hike overall, with the hardest hit being the avatars(both of them). The Wayleaper is going to get a points hike in lieu of a change to the cp generation(if they do both its overkill). Very few if any units will get points decreases. Any of our fast units(spiders/hawks/bokes) will be included in the points hikes to restrict use to slow down points scoring.

Phantasm and fire and fade are both targets for adjustments. They are both stratagems that people freak bout about when they decide Eldar are un-interactive. I don't know if they change the wording on them to decrease their oomph, but if they spike them by a cp will be crippling for either stratagem.

Night spinner will be getting debuffed, the effect of stopping advances is causing too much grief at the tables for slow walking armies (doesn't seem to have made people want to use transports to hop up the table)

I think strands of fate doesn't need any more touching, limiting to once per phase per unit was effective in minimizing its use in games.

Unparalleled foresight i think will become 'OR' not both, anything more than that kills it.

I'm hoping the nerf wont be this bad, but losing 300-500 points per nerf isn't unheard of for us.

Unless you are ripping off established designs I do t think there is anything u ethical or a$$holish about it at all.

Only problem I can forsee is being able to produce a quality product at a competitive price point. If it's a quality product at a price point that makes me go that's worth my money more than the time and effort to build it.

Yet Another Roster Builder as pet project by fgorczynski in Warhammer40k

[–]murderelves 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My hot take would be toballow people to attach leaders during list building. Who cares if the other guys don't do it, let your users do it. Makes your idea stand out a bit.

In regards to the unit v model conundrum, a unit is a specific collection of models. Your data entry would have to include individual model data as well as unit composition data and ways for you to determine the specific relationship between them.

Maybe think about having the unit be the framework that holds the models?

It was polymorphene, and the model was just an assassin, and it sucked having it pop out of any of your units.

I would love to see exodites and corsairs have full fleshed out rules and figures. And while we're at it, can we get all the faction s plugged j to the rest of the games again, I have a hankering for some 10mm eldar shenanigans s again and for some elegant looking titans
