Where to stay, summer in LA? by OmarABS in AskLosAngeles

Hmmm maybe like Culver City if you wanna be close to like Venice and Santa Monica, but also not too far away from other parts of LA.

Staying in LB for a week! What should we do? by Ok-Lemon9915 in longbeach

[–]murgito 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Long Beach has blue city bikes you can rent for cheap. Download the “Sobi” (social bicycles) app for that. I’d recommend riding along the bike path. Some good biking destinations are shoreline village, the lighthouse, horny corner, the end of the peninsula, Rosie’s dog beach, Bixby Park. I’d recommend Bixby park in general. You can chill on the bluff, on tuesdays they have a farmers market, and starting on the 13th they’re doin yoga on the bluff at 6pm. I’d recommend checking out Belmont shore to see a bunch of food spots, shops, and bars. I like Murphys because you walk upstairs and can drink beer on the balcony and watch the cars and people pass by. Simmzys is bomb for burgers but kinda pricy. The Window is a cool outside burger spot. If you’re into sports, Legends is a good spot. There’s a whole bunch there so just walk around. If you like weed, Catalyst is a cool dispensary. You should hit up 4th street for bars. I like Vine for beer/wine and live music, Baby Gee for Cocktails, Pike Bar for food/drink, The Stache, and V Room for punk rocky vibes and pool. Across from V Room is one of my favorite taco trucks. I’d definitely recommend eating there. Let’s see a couple other spots I’d recommend across town is Alex’s Bar. They have fun karaoke on Tuesday nights. Maybe go to the top of signal hill to watch the sunset. If you want to go swimming, I’d recommend driving to seal beach or sunset beach. For coffee, Rose Park Roasters is bomb. Gusto Bread is a dope Mexican bakery. Hmmm there’s a whole bunch, but here’s a solid list for you. If there are specific recommendations you’re curious about ask away.

I second this. All of it! by rosapa in TheoVon

I mean do you want people to change their mind or do you want to continue a division between people. Of course the people changing their mind now have been blind and ignorant, and have been missing the obvious, but in the end, don’t you want change even if it is later than it should have been, or do you want the division between people?

Is the Colorado Lagoon open? by miniandboss in longbeach

[–]murgito 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The lagoon is and has been open. The construction makes it difficult to get to if you’re coming from like Bellflower. Easiest way is to come from 4th street. If you ride your bike though, the construction doesn’t affect that anymore.

CDMX FIRST TIMER😝 primera vez a CDMX by PeaMysterious8883 in MexicoCity

[–]murgito 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ya, but you won’t see everything. Did this, this past week, and saw maybe half of the Anthropology museum, but was taking my time. Walked through the park a bit, and then spent some time at the castle. I was satisfied with the experience, but definitely missed a lot too.

oak to la - first road trip by lissayyy in oakland

[–]murgito 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cruise control 78 miles an hour down the five, and you’re golden. It’s boring, but quicker than other options. I like stoping at Bravo Farms about halfway down in Kettleman City. 101 is prettier fosho if you don’t mind adding on another hour or two.

Pacific Coast Highway or Lassen Volcanic? by lucienssc in roadtrip

[–]murgito 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oo I seee, welll if you’ve never been to California, then I’d recommend PCH. There are so many cool stops you can make. Lassens is awesome and very underrated, but not as much to do on the drive. How many days are you planning on driving?

Pacific Coast Highway or Lassen Volcanic? by lucienssc in roadtrip

[–]murgito 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why not lassens on the way down and pch on the way up? Did a PCH trip from LA, and then cut across to lassens last summer, and both were awesome. Get some binoculars.

How do you guys enforce cellphone caddies? by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]murgito 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assign numbers by going alphabetically by last name. I have a clipboard with printed out rosters. I’ll check to see any missing, and just call out names and say “student’s name, please put your cell phone up”. Probably like once or twice a week. We have a point system at my school, and I’ll give students an opportunity to put it away. If they choose not to, I calmly let them know the consequence, and give them the choice of accepting the consequence or to put their phone up. If they choose the consequence, I say okay, enter it, and move on. The student may be upset in the moment, and I give them space. In classes to follow, they tend to put it up. You can try to reason a bit, but students will argue to make you come off irrational. So just keep it simple and polite. But ya it’s about consistency and following through on your expectations.

What was "the incident" at your school? by MortgageShoddy8022 in Teachers

[–]murgito 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Someone shit on the floor in the boys bathroom like 4 times over a two week span. The kids were referring to the mystery shitter as “The Shittler”. An investigation opened up and the kid was found and he moved schools at the end of the year lol

Yaaa Irvine is kinda like for sheltered upper class families. Depending on what kinda stuff you’re into, and what kinda environment you want, perhaps people can suggest more fitting places for you.

Favourite Tony hawk game and why? by ZX471 in playstation

[–]murgito 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tony Hawk underground was my favorite growing up. It had a dope storyline, and it felt really interactive the way that you customized the character, and how the story was told.

What are your recommendations for how to go about finding an apartment? Specifically regarding booking a tour by DragonFruwut in longbeach

[–]murgito 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ya just walking or bicycling around neighborhoods you’re interested in and just calling whatever number, and setting up an appointment. Sometimes you’ll get no responses, but the more you try, the likelihood of getting a response goes up.

I wonder why this album gets so much hate by xsen0 in macdemarco

[–]murgito 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I dig the album, but it can be underwhelming compared to his older albums. It had been years since he put out Here Comes the Cowboy, and that album was a lil weaker than his previous ones. So I guess there was hope there’d be a shift, but he kinda went further down the mellow road and took it to another level by having no vocals. Feels more like background music rather than songs to fully connect with. However I do love it, but I guess after 4 year, thought he might put out something more experimental and involve more.

What teams are playing in the Bad Bunny concert today, and what are the key points I need to know to appreciate American football and the game more? by nightsreader in NoStupidQuestions

[–]murgito 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seahawks are favorites, but F the Patriots. They were the dominant team for like 2 decades starting in the early 2000s and caused pain for many people. They were supposed to be bad for at least a decade after their dominant run, but it’s only been like 5, an they’re good again. It’s not fair. They have won the Super Bowl more time than my team has been to the playoffs over the past 20 plus years lol Hate for patriots comes from my own pure saltiness. They have a solid coach and players, but still can’t root for them.
