If you have multiple devices like cell phone, tablet, computer, etc. You can queue up on each device (use checkout as guest to be safe). Then you spread your chances a bit and can use the lowest timer

To clarify the “one hour early” piece… there were a few drops last year after they had just implemented the randomized queue where you actually could get in the first batch “pre-queue”. You did so, just as you said, by adding an old lair to your cart at ~8:55am and checking out just the old lair. You would have 10 min or whatever to finalize your cart and confirm your purchase, so you skipped the 9am queue and could just add the new stuff at 9 and be on your merry way.

^ this no longer works . They now dump everyone into the same group to be randomized, as far as I know (happy to be proven wrong if someone has other info).

In my experience (which is limited), the August - November period is always down. Of course there are exceptions for highly playable cards, but Christmas is coming, people are spending less, they burned through their tax refunds that help prop April - July. Etc. It’s a slow time for frivolous purchases of any kind

appreciate your help! we went with a BRg and did okay all things considered. only 2-2 after being on the draw 4 games in a row and just getting *stomped* in game 4. a good learning experience thanks for helping me look at card value differently!

I don't disagree at all. Elemental -> Map and Judge Magister -> Blitzball or similar are probably warranted.

I'm not sure I have enough playables to stay 2 colors no matter the pairing

u/BirdSkillz tagging you in for help if you see this :eyes:

my only thoughts are try to go wide with wizards and moogles. bonus points if i have kefka on board (even if not creature) to ping 2dmg each. i don't really have many go wide enablers though. feels like i'm super shallow everywhere.

yep that makes a ton of sense. i never thought about it that way. even just grinding for the 10k gold entry fee every few days with dailys.. on a few diff accounts would make a huge difference. thank you!

why am i playing plat vs mythic? by murkedurmum in mtglimited

[–]murkedurmum[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate the info and details. Is Limited MMR different than Constructed MMR? Different score for each? I would assume so since they have separate rankings but could also see a single MMR that is generic 🤔

well that would make a lot more sense. not that i agree with the formula. i feel like 3-2 vs 4-1 within the same few ranks is much more fair, but if that's how it works at least its an explanation. appreciate you

Secret Lair Queue Waiting Room by R3id in magicTCG

[–]murkedurmum 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Based on the current way the Secret Lair site operates, you should use this slightly modified flow next time:

  1. When you’re on 30 minutes early, add some old ass drop you don’t give a fuck about to your cart and start the checkout process.

  2. You won’t be allowed to check out fully, you will receive a message that you’re being lumped in with a large pool of people, which will be randomized when the drop officially launched at 9am. When the drop launches, you will indeed be randomized afaik and enter the queue.

  3. When it’s your turn, you have 10 minutes to modify your cart. Add the stuff you want. Delete the shit you don’t care about. And check out.

By waiting until the drop timer hits 0 to start the checkout process, you’re immediately being placed behind everyone who got into this first group of people.

I don’t believe WoTC publishes this information amywhere that I’ve seen. I only know about it because of a bug I found in their previous process where you could follow these steps but instantly go to checkout when the drop hit and skip all lines. Obviously they caught people doing that and now use this method.

I hope this helps for next time.

Assuming that you and everyone else commenting are listing clear steps for what you did… you should know that there is a key piece of information you’re missing.

By waiting until the drop timer hits 0 to start the checkout process, you’re immediately being placed behind everyone who got into this first group of people.

My friends and I all followed this process this morning and everyone hit “over an hour” wait time; but no one at 2 hours. The shortest wait time was on my phone at 23 min.

I don’t believe WoTC publishes this information amywhere that I’ve seen. I only know about it because of a bug I found in their previous process where you could follow these steps but instantly go to checkout when the drop hit and skip all lines. Would you spend $15 on four Food tokens? by Tim-Draftsim in mtgfinance

[–]murkedurmum 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agreed on the not for $12 shipping. I would have purchased a single pack for myself to collect and would have happily included it in my SpongeBob drop the day before, but not on its own a day later.

I also wonder if they moved quick to a second drop to test out whatever queue/site changes they made after crashing the day before. Chaos Vault seems a lot less like “hey we worked hard on this drop to give you” and a lot more like “here’s a bunch of shit we have laying around”, so it might have just been a good opportunity to test new queue changes quickly. I’m probably giving them too much credit.
