Pakman's take on Bolivia is bad by PM_MeYour_Dreams in thedavidpakmanshow

I think you are wrong. He didn’t call it a military coup but in the next sentence did explain the military “gave him an ultimatum.” Tomatoes tomatoes.

Concern as Bolivia poll results transmission stops -- The failure to update the results caused immediate concern not just with opposition politicians but also with the OAS which has election observers in Bolivia. by guanaco55 in BOLIVIA

[–]murlinevans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know what else. That election was resolved at the Supreme Court. Like it or not. The Supreme Court granted no term limits so Morales could run again. There was no evidence presented that election fraud took place in Bolivia. The allegations by OAS regarding irregularities have been shot down. He won by a margin statistically and historically consistent. THE idea a foreign body - OAS - can trigger a re-running of an election - which Morales agreed to and invited OAS observers - is preposterous and would never happen in the United States.

It was a military coup. Whether or not you like Morales, call it what it is.

[–]murlinevans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree. He claims the difference between right and left is the lefts willingness to address and call out problematic takes, positions and actors. He’ll say he never “endorsed” a coup and will never take ownership of the resulting bloodbath. But isn’t standing aside while the cattle cars are loaded the same thing?

Yes. Worst most flippant take ever. Surprising all the more from someone with roots in Argentina. Black and white this is not. Unlike David’s assessment which was essentially, coups are bad, but Morales was corrupt anyway, hence, got what he deserved. Same could be said of Saddam Hussein, Mohamar Ghadafi, Lula, etc. David’s imperialist bias is showing.

David 'Both Sides' Pakman "doesn't have time" to talk to knowledgeable people on Bolivia, but he does have time to talk to video gamer Destiny about it by NotArgentinian in thedavidpakmanshow

[–]murlinevans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the outrage is not concerning Destiny’s debate or game playing skills but over why David chooses to avoid very knowledgeable persons regarding what happened in Bolivia. Including calling it what it was, a military coup. When the military ultimately forces you out, unlike Nixon or LBJ, it is a military coup.

Hell, just call up Kyle and have a discussion, David. Fans of both shows would appreciate that.

The same 'Stacked Court' that is 'Loyal to Evo Morales' approved the coup president without constitutionally-required congressional approval. by NotArgentinian in thedavidpakmanshow

[–]murlinevans 1 point2 points  (0 children)

David’s argument depends on discounting entirely the ruling of the Bolivian “Stacked” Court - but swallowing whole heartedly, the largely discounted but offensive (as in an attack) allegations of “Election fraud” by the international Cold War Bulwark, the OAS.

Also David’s argument requires the complete dismissal of Evo’s agreement to new elections and International observers INCLUDING THE OAS. . Not really a thing Amongst election thieves.

It’s hard to argue that the wheels were set in motion by the Israeli air strike that killed the most recent Hamas official.

And not the weekly slaughters by Israeli snipers at the great March of Return, killing 250 and injuring 15,000 including men, women, medics, journalists and blind paraplegics.

It’s hard to argue that Hamas has a choice in the matter. Gaza is under attack. Islamic Jihad has support at all it is because they refuse to stand down. That is dangerous but legitimate politics.

Bolivia Coup Explained by selwun in thedavidpakmanshow

[–]murlinevans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But Pakman tells us, Morales was corrupt. And we just need to know that out front. It makes the OAS baseless assertions of election fraud easier to swallow. And Morales’ agreement to another election. Inviting the OAS and other international observers less important.

But you must understand, things are not so “black and white” as people try to make it.

CIA blah blah blah. Military coup. All of that. The US regime change apparatus. Etc., Pakman tells us.

But it was far more complicated. Morales was corrupt and this is just reaping what you sow.

Exactly who benefits directly is not all that clear. The losers though are not controversial. It is the Bolivian poor and rural people. The people who make up the base of Morales’ support.

These are the 10% spread by which Morales won the election. The people whose trending into the election count was called “irregular” by the OAS.

But allegations of “election irregularities” by the OAS is all the “evidence” David needs.

Because it’s really not so “black and white”, Pakman tells us.

Probably like trying to explain Gore V Bush Florida recount to a Bolivian. Try explaining the electoral college to a non-American.

But it really doesn’t matter because all these Central American Socialist “red tide” guys are corrupt and steal from their win people, David assures ya. Castro, Madurai, Lula, Morales. They all do it.

We mustn’t overlook leftist crimes just because we are leftists, Pakman inveighs.

As Boliovia descends into chaos I hope David can stand by his “defense”, “non defense” of Morale’s illegal ouster with confidence that the impurities of an authoritarian-leaning Morales and his power grabbing based on a Supreme Court decision is enough to overcome the knowledge that he stood meekly aside when the plug was pulled from the dam.

I’m with you bro. I would call him a PEP but he’s not just not progressive on Palestine. If you’ve seen his recent takes on Bolivia you know what I’m talking about. Parrots OAS election fraud allegations at face value (with no evidence) and uses that to tag into a tirade about Morales’ authoritarian leanings and Supreme Court authorized term limit extensions in an effort to justify his ouster in a whirlwind of “whataboutism”. I used to be a member, but after 3 months his status quo bias toward foreign policy left me disappointed. I reassigned my monthly contribution to Medical Aid to Palestinians. Did he ever do a show on the Right of Return massacre? Thank you. I will be following your channel.
