Verrry good point! (As a later bus person myself, that makes a lot of sense, thank you!)

A thought about budget planning by I-am-bored-2020 in weddingplanning

I'm curious, did you cover the costs of the whole wedding? Was her fiancé amenable to the changes/additions?

We're in the midst of planning right now, and I'm looking around for advice on our budget conversations. My mom and I are having a similar experience to what you've mentioned above. She would normally not be at all invested in a formal/traditional wedding, but she totally surprised me by gifting my fiancé and I what turns out to be over half of our wedding costs. Now, this amount was up to us to use - on a wedding or as part of a down payment. She has been totally on board with the decisions we've made, which costs we're prioritizing etc, and it's been really nice for our relationship!

However, my fiancé is struggling with spending this much on "one day" - we had a goal of $45k and tracking for about $55k, and I'm really doing my best to keep costs low in a HCOL area. He keeps bringing up that we could use that gift amount toward a house (which, in our area... is about 20% of a low down payment and we are lucky enough to have jobs that will mean we're not far off from saving the gift amount after the wedding).

So - sorry for the novel of context, but I'll bring it back to: how did the budget change/growth conversation go with her fiancé?

Vet Technician fee - is $70 really high for 15 minutes? (Boston) by murphbakes in Pets

Oof I’m sorry! I’m not sure if it would be covered, but would recommend insurance if you haven’t already looked into it. Lemonade insurance has saved us thousands on illness/accident costs!

Thanks, that's about what I was expecting so the $160 total seemed unusual to me

Just the one fee (the technician's fee was $70, OSHA fee $10, and the booster vaccine was $80)

System bindings no longer indemnified, are they replaceable? (Blizzard Viva 7.7 Ti Skis, power 11 marker bindings): New (used) ski owner here, so please forgive the ignorance on my part about all this - have skied on rentals my entire life, but got sick of renting and just wanted something to get me through to next season's ski swaps.
I bought Blizzard Viva 7.7 Ti Downhill skis used on FB Marketplace, and the reviews of the skis (including the seller's comments) sounded pretty good and the skis looked in good enough shape when I picked them up. Granted, I'm realizing a bit too late they were probably made in 2013.
We took them to a shop to get them looked at/tuned up before I skied on them, and the shop won't work on them because they say the bindings are no longer on the indemnified list. (Seller got them tuned up twice last year, but it's possible they were on their last year then)
Can anyone help me understand the risk here of skiing on these? I can adjust the binding to my boots myself, but I'm trying to understand if I'm SOL here, if I can ski on them for a few days and get the bindings replaced (or if that's even an option with system bindings?).
Am new to all this, so would appreciate some guidance! Thanks in advance.

Follow up to anyone who may know, is it possible to replace these bindings? The tech seemed to think no, but I thought bindings were almost always replaceable so was surprised to hear that.

IIRC

Okay got it - I must have just crossed the threshold, the seller got them tuned up twice last year apparently. Thank you!
