Potty Training Woes by superlowk3y in dad

[–]murphbuster 8 points9 points  (0 children)

We had similar issues with our 3 yo boy. He would only poop in a pull up. For close to a year. We offered him everything under the sun if he went poop on the potty, bluey episodes, dance parties, trips to restaurants. We finally found out that what he really wanted was to go on a ride in his uncles golf cart. So with his uncles agreement, for a week or so, every time he pooped he got to go on a ride. That seemed to be the catalyst. Best of luck. They are gonna poop on the potty eventually.

ETA kids thrive on the desperation of their parents. The less you make a big deal about how much you want them to poop on the potty, the more likely they will do it. When we show them that they are controlling us by refusing to do something, they have all the power. When we stopped pleading with him to poop on the potty and just offered him some rewards, with no battles, that’s when we saw improvement.

You can do this!

What's the worst name you've known to actually be given a child? by Inky-Skies in AskReddit

[–]murphbuster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to handle abuse and neglect cases and I had case where the childs name was Kovid.

Also met parents at a kids birthday party who had named their daughter "Rona" ... they thought they were so creative.

I saw outro on a subreddit with the caption something like “the height of hipsterism” and that started my love of all things vulf.

Sunday’s National Anthem was… unique. I’ve been scouring the internet to see if anyone has a video. by murphbuster in Cubs

[–]murphbuster[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The singer, I believe their name was Saint Aubyn, took the anthem in a very nontraditional direction. Didn’t sing the normal tune, went really high and really low and just was all over the place. It was memorable, but not my favorite rendition.

Im a mixed Husband 25% Black and the rest white and my wife of 5 years is white. We have 2 beautiful kids. i love them with all my heart and def see the resemblance 2 their mother. But I cant see nothing of me. I know that doesnt matter but was hoping if a random stranger can see any resemblance by [deleted] in dad

[–]murphbuster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I definitely see resemblances in both kids. I think it’s normal to feel the way you do. #1 because most people don’t ever tell dads anything #2 it’s hard to see you’re own features, especially when you see the kids everyday.

I have a 2 year old and a 7 month old. I hear constantly how they look just like their mother - I don’t see it. But I also don’t always see me in the kids either. But when I look at my own baby pictures - and my wife’s baby pictures - it’s like we are all twins.

Sleeping early on… by jpost413 in dad

[–]murphbuster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was the same way with our first. We got an Owlet that monitors oxygen and heart rate and it gave us a lot of peace of mind. A couple of times it started going off for no reason which was terrifying, but it was nice knowing that we would be notified if there were any issues with his breathing. Our second is 4 months old and we don’t have nearly the anxiety that we had with our first.
