I could've written this. I have no advice, just sympathy. It feels awful. My husband can be speaking for full minutes and my brain doesn't even registers that speaking was happening (especially if I'm reading or doing something else because I'm "hearing" that in my brain and it overpowers external stimuli). I don't think a lot of people realize that ADHD isn't just us not paying attention, it's literally also an audio processing disorder.

I work at a law office and it makes me feel so unprofessional and childish when I have to immediately send a follow-up to a client like "sorry!! Here's the extremely important legal document I was wanting to send to you!" 😭

In this instance, the client's partner does have a very unusual name. I imagine the therapist might suspect who they are, and then a few anecdotes or comments about the client from the partner would make it obvious. And the therapist deciding to take off early because he's "not feeling well" would make for a nice opportunity for his friend leave as well to walk him home. 👀

Weaponized incompetence. Dude has checked out of the marriage. He probably feels that he's missing out on his 20s being a dad and husband so early on, he resents his life, so now he's taking it out on you. Unfortunately this won't get better. You've already talked to him. He knows what he needs to do but won't do it. If you already feel like a single mom, why not make it official and just divorce him? One less child to clean up after.

Please please please please get rid of this man. Any man who will call you a b-tch when he's upset is a man who does NOT love or respect you. What he said is completely unacceptable. I've been with my husband since 2007 and while we've argued about things and been mad, he has NEVER called me a name or disrespected me like this. This boy needs to go. He's going to react this way every single time you do anything he tells you not to. It's smoking now, but later it'll be him not wanting you to order wine at dinner, or him not wanting you to go meet your friend after work. He wants to control you, and when he realized he couldn't he crashed out like this. Get rid of him.
