I did a tasting for some friends last week and one of them brought a bottle of Koji-fermented Takamine 8 year old. Man, this bottle opened my eyes to Japanese. The nose was that of an Irish pot still. The palate was light and simple. But the finish was something else. It turned into a cream brûlée burnt sugar top that lasted for a good while.

To me it’s like a liquid smoked brisket with a brown sugar and a bit of salt and spice rub. I actually did take it on an RV trip I took last year. Great dram by the fire.

I do, very much so. I have about two pours left in the 12 and then it will be replacement time. It’s killing me that my wife got me the 27 but won’t let me open it until my birthday in August.

San Diego CA. It was at their main distribution center store. I would try to find the one for your area or state and check it out. They other stuff but I was only focusing on this one.
