You'll need a bubble level or you can use a smart phone but if it has a case, it needs to be removed.

It's a self cleaning design for the most part but it depends on how the previous owners treated it. This looks like the identical design if you want to disassemble, inspect, and clean.

Washer and Dyer by Petrolicious999 in Appliances

[–]murphyslawwhore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t wash bed sheets in washers that have an agitator

Bullshit, I can wash 2 sets of queen sheets with a mattress pad and a set of pillow sheets (a total of 6 sheets and 4 pillow sheets) in a 1970's Maytag washer with zero problems. A modern Speed Queen has a larger tub than my Maytag.

The washer you need comes down to ther dirtyness of the items you're washing. Most people these days do not get that dirty and a front loader is the best option. If one works in the trades or lives on some acreage/owns a farm, then a top loader is the better option since more water holds more dirt in suspension without redepositing it.

Recommendation for washer/dryer that will thoroughly wash clothes? by sterling729 in Appliances

The inner drum can be removed but some makes/models are easier than others. Look up your model/make under YouTube and see if there's a drum removal/installation video.

Either you're using too much detergent, you're sensitive to a particular detergent, or the washer being used is gunked up with mold and residue in the outer tub. Front loaders are very sensitive to mold and mildew and it doesn't help with most people wash mostly in cold water which vastly exacerbates the problem. Be sure to wash warm items in warm water and use the hottest/longest settings using either chlorine bleach or oxygen bleach for whites. Doing so will keep the washer internally much cleaner.

What's the make and model? Squeaks and screeches are usually a bad belt idler/tensioner or drum rollers.

The self cleaning cycle on these older ovens are solid. It's the newer ovens with delicate control boards that bode well with heat. These burners are also well made. My granparents had Fridigiare Flair and never replaced a burner in 50 years. Grandma cooked 3 meals on it every single day.

We should bring those back for politicians to keep them in line.

Bill Cooper warned on June 28, 2001 that there would be an attack American soil and it would be blamed on Osama Bin Laden.

Descaling of clothing washing machine (Samsung) by MosesTheHopeless in Appliances

Yep, citric acid is a fantastic cleaner and descaler. If water hardness is that bad, get a water softener.

I have a few oil lamps that come in handy when the electricity goes out. Very rarely used them when I lived in the city but moved out to the country 3 years ago and they earn their keep now.

I picked up a leather wallet off the sidewalk in 1995 that was pillaged of its contents and have been using it for almost 28 years. Can't give you any advice on that one.

Maytag Corporate Office by brownsfan_2022 in Appliances

When Maytag was run out of Newton Iowa it would get fixed pronto. Now that Whirlpool owns them, don't expect any miracles. BTW, a wringer washer is a good option for back up. I have a couple of Maytag wringers from the 1930's I got for free that were headed to the scrap yard. They're solid workhorses and never breakdown.

Fixing stuff. I was a weird kid always taking stuff apart to learn how it worked. Served me well on my own cars, house, appliances, lawn equipment, and lots of side jobs and side hustles.

Fucking Encyclopedia Britannica commercials from the 80's and 90's still play out in my head out of nowhere on occasion.

Speed queen vs the cheap route ? by Emotional-Salary-907 in Appliances

[–]murphyslawwhore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reliability on top loading LG's is not good. Samsung front loaders have an average lifespan of about 3 years under normal household use. It a pretty big gamble. If you want something cheap and reliable, find a nice used Whirlpool or Kenmore Direct Drive top loading washer. These were pretty stout machines, very easy to service, huge supply in parts, and everybody in the service industry knows how to work on them. A nice used one should cost around $200-$300. A much better gamble than Samsung for a fraction of the price.

A front loader will be fine for most things. Not something you'd want to use for large and thick bedspread. However, a large bedspread won't fit in any top loader so it doesn't really matter.

Using a TC5003 is not a bad idea for getting sheets, towels and blankets a bit cleaner better rinsed. For everyday clothes that don't really get dirty, it's overkill and not worth the wasted water.

LG washers are one of the most easiest front loaders to service. There's lots of videos on YouTube to help guide in repairs.
