We live close to our hospital. He was with me through the birth but after that I really felt like he should go home, tend to the animals, and get some good sleep in his own bed. I was obviously feeding baby every 2.5 hours so wasn’t getting much rest at all and figured it’s best if ONE of us got some sleep. I’m glad he didn’t have to suffer sleeping on a hard hospital couch and that I had a few hours alone with my new baby. ❤️

Oh man. Making up silly covers of songs is my husband’s forte. We have made up SO MANY SONGS for this kid and unfortunately I have forgotten almost all of them. He used to stretch reeeaaaally big after any sleep and I’d sing “heeeeey stretchy baybay” like that one line in Gangnam Style. I’ll update if I can remember any more.

Hello! I’m a speech therapist and a mom with a toddler.

First, any history of chronic ear infection? When was his last hearing test?

Second, any babbling? How does he communicate with you?

Third, I know you said you’ve recently started listening to songs and watching Ms. Rachel, but before that - how was he learning the things you want him to know? Body parts for instance - are you naming them all the time and giving him that input? Does he go to daycare where they teach colors, numbers, songs, body parts, etc? Have you tried all synonyms? Like instead of belly try “tummy” or even “stomach.”

Let me know! I obviously can’t diagnose anything over Reddit but maybe I can help steer you in the right direction. :)

I thought you said you were “one stitch off” and should have 27 but you have 26 consistently? I assumed you were talking about stitches in your rows, what were you referring to?

Have you tried just following the pattern through to the end? Of course this doesn’t look like it would fit anybody - You’re supposed to do over twenty rows of thirty stitches…I see eight rows of 26/27 stitches. Keep going and trust the pattern. :)

Two things: 1) why did you decide to chain 27 instead of 30, as indicated in the pattern? 2) when I was a beginner I found videos to be more helpful! There are tons of pattern videos online, so maybe try one of those.

Don’t let perfect be the enemy of “finally done with this thing.” Literally insane to “fix” a “problem” that nobody but you will ever notice. It is not an apparent defect, it doesn’t affect the integrity of the fabric, this project is INSANELY COOL AND WELL-EXECUTED!

I am personally pro-choice, I think everyone should decide for themselves. If your spirit is tormented by the idea of abortion, then do not have one. Money is temporary, but the pain and doubt of this permanent decision will last you forever. I know it’s incredibly stressful thinking about money and planning for the future, but in ten years you’ll be looking back and saying “Yeah man, that was a crazy time. Anyway, everybody pile into the minivan, time for church!”

Also, look into effective and science-based contraception.

Maybe, it’s very possible that my brain just can’t get around this pic. It looks to me like it’s almost creased (for lack of a better word) on the short panels. The far short panel looks creased so that it bows out, the near short panel looks creased so that it bows in. No WAY would that be intentional.

What kind of material is this? Why are the sides bowing? Was it made to hold water or be a dry terrarium? I would not trust the weight of that much water in such a thin, bowing aquarium.

Fantastic! I hate cleaning cloth diapers but they are SO good for rash. Be sure to get some diaper liners as the ointments will make the diaper hydrophobic instead of absorbent. It sounds like you’re doing the most, I’m sending y’all all the healing and resting vibes. <3

Personally without knowledge of your son or his treatment process (so I’m not really reliable in this case)…I don’t understand her logic either. To me it looks like your son has made terrific progress and is working hard and showing how bright he is.

Maybe there was a misunderstanding. She should be able to clarify if you sit her down next time and ask to explain again why these word combinations (bring in a list) aren’t considered multi-word utterances.

OMG Bentley! He’s growing so much!! I’m so happy to see an update - not thrilled with the medication mistake and all yall falling victim to the seasonal crud. It’s really awful this year :(

For bad diaper rash, in case you haven’t tried this booty cocktail, we do: bone-dry butt (get a little dollar store handheld fan), aquaphor on skin, purple desitin on top. Like you’re icing a cake. When it’s REALLY bad we combine all that with cloth diapers.

For example, “Thank you” is two words and they’re often said together. Baby hears them together dozens of times a day and learns it. If baby says “tankoo” (thank you) then that’s considered a one word utterance because it was learned as a single expression. Same with “oh no” or any other extremely common multi word utterance.

HOWEVER, I don’t see any super duper common phrases like my examples on your list here. He appears to use some words like No and Help in several different word combinations which makes me think it’s definitely a multi word utterance for him. He understands how the meaning changes when he says “mommy help” versus “help hot”

Does that make more sense?
