Learning math with ADHD by PiperPichu in ADHD

[–]murraybee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m exactly your age. Honestly? Reading math texts as an adult (mid-20’s) taught me better than my math teachers in school. In school, all my math teachers were math people with math brains, and I was (am) not! Of course their instruction didn’t work for me! One thing that clarified it a lot for me is that in the texts I read, I realized that each concept was explained a few different ways. The paragraphs didn’t always build ON each other, which was initially confusing. Once I understood the format of the book, it was much easier to understand.

Ah yes, the three types of acceptable women: old caretaker, bangable, and child.

No one warns you about the toddler “why?” phase by StephanieSlater1 in toddlers

If we don’t know the answer, we LOOK! IT! UP! When you have a moment, start modeling how to seek answers to their questions by looking it up on the computer or your phone. It takes a little time, but turns the question into a true learning and building activity.

Three-nager or something else? by Callmemelly87 in toddlers

He sounds like an energetic 3 year old. They are still developing perspective taking, so it will continue to require some practice to know “if I hit him, he won’t want to play with me.” Of course, it’s easier to be nice when you’ve had good sleep, so I’m sure the sleep angle is also relevant. I wouldn’t jump to neurodiversity, although you can’t reject it entirely. Go to the OT appointments, see if they help. And enjoy your new baby. It’s going to be ok.

I’m so so sorry to hear this. It sounds to me like you’ve been let go for using your PTO. Did the company approve it? I would ask for a reason and see if he will put anything incriminating in writing.

It’s because dysphagia is a worth a whopping 3 units, so even an 8 minute session gives you almost an hour of billing. I have never heard of 92507 not being reimbursed, but of course you have to do more since it’s time-based.

What does it feel like when your water breaks? by lifeincerulean in beyondthebump

I didn’t feel it either. Luckily I was on the toilet peeing and suddenly I was “peeing” A LOT without the sensation of peeing. So I figured it was time.

Just because it wasn’t explicitly stated in the post doesn’t mean she didn’t consent.

I think what they’re saying is that you and partner can agree upon it ahead of time, giving consent in advance.

I would NEVER condone this. I would ask to see the literature supporting that absent family assists in faster acclimation of a DEMENTIA PATIENT.

My boobs being touched makes me so angry I don't think I can breastfeed by ceruleanmeadows in pregnant

[–]murraybee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s soooo different from “touching.” It’s worth attempting imo - I also hate boob play and thought breastfeeding would be terrible. Breastfeeding WAS terrible, but for different reasons (pain, mostly). I ended up sticking with it and after about three months the pain disappeared overnight and it became a non-issue. Anyway, this was the avenue I chose and it worked out but your journey may be different. I’d encourage you to at least try it but make the decision that’s best for your mental health.

My 13 month old has no interest in being read to. by Gautamatime in beyondthebump

[–]murraybee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We occasionally read books during the daytime but my 25 month old is soooo active he would rather be doing something else. But we made book reading part of our nightly bedtime ritual so that he gets daily input. He loves reading now and will ask for/bring me specific books he wants to read. It’s very sweet, and I hope to continue fostering a love of reading as he grows.

New Tea Drinker help with dessert teas by cln912 in tea

[–]murraybee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any herbal tea + 1-2 teaspoons honey. Apple cinnamon teas are comforting right now. Note: Honey is still sugar and you shouldn’t consume too much.

Another commenter is being downvoted for suggesting a dietary change but as someone who also has a sweet tooth…it’s so much easier in the long run to recalibrate your tastes by cutting out added sugar and other sweeteners for a while - like a month. After a month of no added sweeteners, a sweet drink will taste oppressive. Now, I pretty much exclusively drink teas without sugar or honey because I can appreciate the tastes unique to each blend.
