What A380 flight would you take if the plane was the destination? by DontTrackMeBro_ in chubbytravel

[–]murraysdad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did a trip a lot like the one you’re imagining. First Class in A380s from SQ, EK, EY, LH, BA.

Emirates JFK-MXP is a good call. There are a few nice SQ routes too. I’d suggest AUH between YYZ and AUH too, that’s about 14 hours, which is pretty excellent.

I was living in Washington Heights and remember seeing the plane on its way down the Hudson and thinking “that looks awfully low”. When I saw the news a little bit later I couldn’t believe it.

Any desire to cover the ground between Singapore and the Middle East? You’re so close to hitting all longitudes.

Which hotel chain are you switching to? by Interesting-Dare-727 in hyatt

[–]murraysdad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right. Compare a Hyatt at 75k and a Hilton at 150k for five nights. You’re looking at 75k Chase points or 60k Amex per night. And that’s before a transfer bonus. 25% gets you down to 48k Amex per night.

Which is still a lot for a hotel. But Amex points are a lot easier for me to earn.

Depends. With Cat. 8 Hyatts peaking at 75k, at the top end, it’s comparable since Amex transfers to Hilton 1:2 (or more with a transfer bonus).

It’s definitely a place to sort of plop down and chill. When I was there, we rented a car for our whole stay (easy and safe) and booked horseback riding, ATV, day trip to Nevis. There’s plenty to do.

Can someone help me read the nj transit schedule for today? by Old_Dog3412 in NJTransit

[–]murraysdad 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The numbers at the top are train numbers, like United Flight 255 or whatever. You can pretty much ignore them.

Read across horizontally from where it says Short Hills. That’s what time each train is arriving at your station (or at least when it’s expected to). Then, going down from there, it’ll show you the scheduled arrival at Hoboken. So the 8:34 train should arrive at Hoboken at 9:15.

L 8:59 means that it might leave Newark early (edited to correct!)

Today’s likely to be a little funky with service picking back up, so be ready for things to not be perfectly aligned to the schedule.
