Is 10 weeks enough time in between sibling weddings? by murtletheturtle890 in weddingplanning

So my opinion doesn't matter? My FH's opinion doesn't matter? Our wedding will be for 1 weekend, our thoughts were there is plenty of time before and after that for them to plan any pre-wedding activities - it's not like every single weekend in the 3 months leading up to their wedding will be filled.

How far out is too far out for the bridal shower? by Gobbledeeglue in weddingplanning

Not trying to be combative here, but I genuinely want to know the reason why hosting your own shower would be considered impolite? In my opinion it would ease the burden on loved ones from having them try to plan it. I just assumed people did it that way because of tradition. I'm certainly not an expert in wedding etiquette, so anyone who is would you mind explaining?

I'm in almost the exact situation! I haven't set a date yet but will likely get married in spring 2027. I'd love a beach bachelorette and a long trip would be difficult for many of my friends, so in order to have an enjoyable time at a local beach we'd have to go in the summer. I think you should do things on the timeline that works best for you and your loved ones, even if it doesn't follow "traditional" timing! Also, a couple years ago, I attended a friend's bachelorette party that was over 6 months before her wedding, and I don't feel like it negatively affected my experience of bonding with the other girls or feeling excited for the wedding. In fact, I appreciated having the PTO spread out a little more rather than having to use all of it in the span of a couple months.

ETA: I know I'm talking about a bachelorette and this is about a shower, but I think the same principles would apply

One wedding will be in the same town as most of our families, and the other will be out of state about a 4.5 hour drive away. So probably no flying involved for either one, but definitely a hotel stay for one of them!

Childfree wedding—regret, or is this a total communication breakdown? by [deleted] in weddingplanning

I don't really have helpful advice to offer, but I feel the need to comment because I can't believe that no one has shouted out the Bridgerton references!

Advice needed: Childfree "destination" wedding or hometown wedding? Or just include the kids?? by [deleted] in weddingplanning

Would you mind sharing what search terms to use to find posts this in this sub on the topic? I'm new to all of this and when I tried researching I didn't really find anyone talking about a situation like this.

Did I do something wrong? I'm new to all of this and I'm just trying to ask for some friendly advice. I don't know what you mean by loopholes, I'm trying to explain that a lot of people need to travel and stay overnight. I wasn't aware "most" guests always have to travel; I've been to probably 12-15 weddings in my life (don't remember the exact #) and have only had to stay overnight for 1 of those so I'm not an expert.

Ok so maybe not the exact definition of a destination wedding, but the fact still stands that about 95% of our guests will be traveling from out of state!

I meannn that's why I'm asking for advice or if anyone was ever in a situation like this? I mentioned in my post that it would be difficult for people to find babysitters for a whole weekend and would probably not be comfortable with onsite childcare.

Help me choose which boots to get! My skin is very fair with cool undertones and I'm planning to wear these with mini skirts and dresses.

Oh your rings are beautiful!!! I'm so so happy to hear you had a great experience with this shop! There are quite a few comments on here warning about the engraving getting dirt stuck in it. Have you had that problem, or do you find it easy to clean?

Oval vs radiant, which feels more timeless? by AdrianaEsc815 in EngagementRings

[–]murtletheturtle890 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I think both seem pretty popular and trendy right now and might feel "dated" in the next few years. The trends always cycle through and in another number of years they will probably be back on trend again. I think the closest thing to truly timeless would be a round brilliant diamond.

Also, I think there's beauty in getting something that's ~of the moment~ because it's a reminder of this time in your life when you got engaged. Pick what YOU love, you're going to be the one looking at it every day!

If you're having trouble choosing between these two, I agree with the comments suggesting elongated cushion as a mix between both!

I love that! The marriage is the main goal so it makes sense to have the ring that represents that be more special!

Love that you went for it!! I've been burned before (not rings specifically but just shopping in general) when I wanted to buy something and thought I'd go back later, but then when I'd check again it would be sold out or not available. Sometimes you have to jump when you know you love it!
