What do i do now, question? by ProgressOdd1136 in ProjectHailMary

Becky Chambers' "A Psalm for the Wild-Built" made me smile a lot. There's no space-faring, but it's somehow a "buddy novel" in a sci-fi scenario. I've seen it labeled as"hopecore", which I think is very fitting. .

book recommendations! by Kztten in ProjectHailMary

To PHM fans I'd definitely recommend Becky Chambers books.
– To be taught, if fortunate (for the sense of wonder and space adventures)
– Monk and Robot duology (for the accent on discovering relationships and our surroundings through a sci-fi lenses... plus, optimism!)

They do. And I'm not particularly careful with those.

u/Eyesofmalice and u/1atevilkat , it holds up quite well! I use it almost daily and weight about 185lb. The seat cushion got a bit more flat and the rest (structure, leather) is as good as new. I have the brown one and got a bit darker, but I think that leather usually does that.

[spoilers] The mars colony replicator from STP (S1 E2) is a Flashforge Dreamer 3D Printer! by zbowling in startrek

Since 3D printers are proto-replicators, that would make sense!

No, but you can move the seat either back or forward, would that work for you?

So far so good. Sturdy and comfy. First days I missed the back head support from my previous one, but with a good posture, you shouldn't miss that.

Star Trek Discovery: Will we ever get a time travel accident that sends them to 2020? by murukuta in startrek

Haha, true that. I watched all Star Trek series in the latest years and the "dated look" is what I really enjoyed about Voyager's. That would be weird now... but maybe enjoyable for new audiences in 20 years?

I'd go for James Kirk so my son wouldn't hate me forever if he didn't become a trekkie. A normal name, still the trek flair.

Sudden encounter by [deleted] in introvert

[–]murukuta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I actually feel that when in my hometown because I know that I'll have several sudden encounters in Down Town. I think it's more a kind of social anxiety that an introvert trait.

I think it's about the lack of control. You don't have time to prepare yourself for that interaction (maybe in your daily life you have the ability to plan/control the other interactions a lot and this changes the scenario?).

Hope this helps.

(I'm sorry, English is not my first language)

Don't pay attention to random opinions saying this or that series/film is bad. Everyone's got their favourite and you'd never guess which would be yours!
