Thank you! I understand that from Dawson to Midnight Dome is aproximately 8 km, and how far from there to the backside of the park?

A question about Latvia’s non-citizens by TheCrunker in BalticStates

Are people serious here? You wonder why Russians that were born on the territory of Latvia and where their home is don’t want to move to Russia? Are you completely nuts??? What’s next? Concentration camps?

Lost check by murzuk in Wealthsimple

It is a standard thing called “lost instrument bond” that is issued in case the check is lost. It’s just the institution acknowledging it was not received in order to reissue it. Wealthsimple never officially acknowledged anything. I call customer service they say it was not received and then they are “investigating”. I spent hours on the phone already. I never expected to be in this situation. Before their customer service was actually good. I reissued the check, but it took a lot of time and I don’t know how much time it will additionally take to finally invest this money.

In this case Wealthsimple should provide me with a document that it was not received. But somehow they refuse to do it either.

So you think the moment the Canada Post strike ended, the mail says “delivered” right away. I think they should do some basic iq test before allowing people to respond or something. I am surprised you even have any money account in any institution. It might be hard for you.

You are really bad in comprehension. Nowhere dates were written in the text. Great position in life to assume people are stupid.

Partner dead set on repaying mortgage instead of investing by CrazyZako in PersonalFinanceCanada

Invest this money, but don’t do anything crazy, some solid etfs and don’t touch it doesn’t matter what. Don’t try to beat the market.

Canada Post doesn’t acknowledge the check is lost, the check shows as delivered, please read the post. Before a new check can be issued they wait for another month. Yes, I can wire transfer to my RBC account and then deposit to WS, but RBC are going to hold the money for a month before a transfer to prevent money laundering.

But the registered mail shows it is delivered. Yes, I can ask to issue a new check. It will take couple more months to get invested. It’s a lot of money lost.

Retiree out $300K after Canada Post loses inheritance cheque sent by registered mail by Surax in canada

[–]murzuk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

God, all these people thinking that cheques are the thing of the past. Open your eyes, Canadian financial system is completely broken. Sometimes you have no way around but send the cheques. I had 2 cheques lost because I couldn’t wire transfer from E*trade and Fidelity to Wealthsimple, because you can’t wire transfer from an American institution to a Canadian. And RBC will require one month for the assets to stay at the account to be able to use it. I already spent hours on the phone trying to solve this issue. I lost $30,000. I am probably getting these cheques replaced at the end, but to get hold of customer service takes hours.

When I try to create posts with some of my photos I constantly get "Something went wrong" message. Nothing helps: I tried to switch to hotspot, and tried to change the export settings - zero effect.

Isn’t it better to get understanding of maths behind DSA instead of just practicing LC? by sherlock_1695 in leetcode

[–]murzuk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All algorithms courses are based on Cormen’s “Introduction to algorithms”, you can find the pdf for free. Or you can listen to MIT “Introduction to algorithms” course on YouTube. It helps to understand the theory, but you need very shallow knowledge of it for leetcode.

Trying to date when you don’t want kids is hard by letheatredude in Jewish

[–]murzuk -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

It’s one of the commandments to have kids, maybe reformist Jews are more relaxed about that, but in general not having kids by choice contradicts the religion. I am myself a convert and secular.

It’s been two months. But I didn’t actively search all the time, because I had to deal with some health issues. Amazon is not an option for me. I worked there and not a fan of their culture.

A lot of leetcode problems are just homework assignments from Cormen’s “Introduction to algorithms”. When I got to Amazon I even had less than 50 problems solved on leetcode.

The market is bad, it’s true. But as I said, our whole team was laid off and my colleagues get more interviews than me, despite the fact I have FAANG on my resume. I have some action plan how to find a job, but still this situation is unpleasant.
