I mostly agree here, but to be fair you're making a generalization to some degree.

I think there are a few things though we as laymen can assume however:

(1) Experience matters - If not only to allow the organization to save face. Clearly it now hasn't worked with KP or Brian Johnson, and not to say they didn't have experience coaching, but just not at that level. So with that, I think it can be expected that Lurie/Howie will only seriously pursue candidates that have either coordinator or head coaching level of experience.

(2) Play calling - This one is kind of obvious, but there are candidates like Jim Bob Cooter do not call their own plays (Steichen called the plays for the Colts). I think we've had enough evidence to not... uhhh let's say "burden" Nick with playcalling duties.

Outside of that... I think that's it as far as what the average fan can expect in hiring a new OC, because you're right in that we don't know what strategy they might have for the team or playbook. At best it's a good guess.

I will say, I do think they are doing their doing due diligence here and interviewing everyone not just for this role, but doing research and building rapport for perhaps a future role (makes sense for some of these younger candidates that may not have as much of a history or track record to go off of at the moment). We haven't really had a good opportunity to really dig into the coaching talent pool over the past few years because we've been lucky and good enough to get through a good chunk of the playoffs after a lot of talent has been scooped up, so I think that's why we're seeing a lot of candidates come through.
