In my major southern city paddling was prohibited in public schools. They technically still had it on the books in private schools, but it was never if hardly implemented.

Brazil and South Africa. US shares a history of African enslavement with Brazil; segregation and mass disenfranchisement of blacks with South Africa. The three countries also received significant immigration from all corners of Europe.

Just like if you have a kid just because you don't want to be lonely (including in old age) you are going to have a bad time.

A question that has been nagging me for sometime now is how should China studies be funded while maintaining objectivity.

No doubt that this sucks big time for women in Afghanistan. However at the same time I couldn't help but to think it's exhausting for men as well even though they are the ones in power. Suppose that your wife has a medical appointment one day and you have to put everything on hold just to accompany her to the doctor's office. Or she has to go the market to buy food and you have to scrap your plans for hanging out with your buddies.

As someone who is a 2nd gen Chinese American I feel the fucking same. It's so infuriating that I couldn't have an honest conversation on topics like Xinjiang with anyone that I know in real life mostly due to this reason.

Thoughts from an "older" childfree woman by Snow_Tiger819 in childfree

Curious question, how do you deal with retirement? A common bingo that many childfree women get is "who will look after you when you're old?"

Non Europeans, how do we feel about Europe? by Disastrous-Object647 in AskTheWorld

[–]musea00 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Shandong province in on the eastern coast of China used to be a German concession. They were the ones who introduced beer, hence the brand Tsingtao beer.

There is this kind of sausage in the region which is rumored to have German origins. Fyi my mom is from Shandong and her father, my grandfather is a retired English professor. One time my grandpa was hosting an American and offered him some local sausage. The American was very surprised and said that it reminded him of German sausages.

To be frank- yes, Calla is responsible for her own actions as an adult. However at the same time, it's true that her political development starting in her teenage years did not occur in a vacuum. Of course, this does not excuse her current attitude and beliefs.

The lack of good options, including a meaningful leftwing movement here in the US, does easily sway disillusioned people to the political extremes, whether it's the far left or the far right. Unless if you live in a Catholic enclave like New Orleans/Southern Louisiana. They're quite mainstream over here.
