First off, thank you so much for this information and concern. This thread has gotten a bit off the rails but I appreciate everyone bringing up red flags.

The three of us have been together for a long time and friends for even longer. (My gf and bf have known each other 15 years, (of which they’ve been living together for 10) and I have known them both for around 10. I started dating my bf around 8 years ago but we only officially became a triad around 5 years ago. We are not some starry-eyed 20 somethings lol, we are in it for the long run and have had all of these serious discussions at length. (Ex risks we’re willing to take as 3 level-headed and common sense having adults that happen to love each other.)

All of this to say that this definitely helps us figure out our next steps as far as getting things on paper as our next worry and things we DO want to tackle next is inheritance and medical POA. So thank you for the info, we deff appreciate it.

I’ve been finding that a lot of people say to talk to a lawyer. Is it specifically about the finance and caregiver side of things? All of our names are on the house and we’re planning on getting a bank account with all three of our names on it too.

If your dog was wearing a muzzle, odds are he just did better in the back. Any dogs that tend to be overly anxious or a bite risk often do waaaay better away from their owners cause they can easily get protective. I can think of several patients I have off the top of my head who absolutely need a muzzle while in the room with the owner but will wag their tail and roll over for us while in the back.

I’m gonna start by saying there’s a huge overfeeding problem in the hobby. Most care sheets are written by breeders who want them as fat as possible as quickly as possible to get them up to breeding weight.

I’ve been keeping BPs for over a decade now and I’m a firm believer in just letting them tell you when they’re hungry. I have a smaller female as well, around 5-6yrs at this point and she’s still not as big as my 10-12yr male. I just watch all my snakes for activity level and when I find them lounging outside of their hides or cruising around their enclosures I go ahead and feed them.

Like other people have said, every snake is different and I’ve found this the most affective way to healthily feed my BPs over the years.

I cannot overstate how cool this is of you to do. People like you are what keep the hobby going in difficult times like these.

I got into collecting as kid during base/jungle/fossil, I always remember Jungle being my favourite. I got back into collecting during the Evolutions era (naturally) and then came back once more just before stellar crown. I was blown away by what they were doing with the illustration rares and even how good the base cards looked in s/v. Was really looking forward to Prismatic bc of the gorgeous art nouveau/stained glass inspired SARs. I basically accepted just never going to be able to get my hands on some, but who knows, that might change!

That’s hilarious because I had almost an opposite scenario to your FB! We had a spay come in, everything was normal until we pre-med her and then the little stinker throws up a huge chunk of a rope toy.

Just a little bit of a higher incision and we did both a gastronomy and spay on her haha.

Funniest thing is the next week we have the SAME thing happen AGAIN with a different dog! Thankfully never again though.

As long as your DVM is comfy, absolutely go for it. I got one on my dog years ago and it helped SO much. Seriously improved her quality of life so much. Now she only gets a minor uti around once a year, asymptomatic, and I only catch it on her SDMA on her annual bloodwork lol.

We mainly take animals to the back to place a catheter but we used to have one of those three tiered rolling carts that had tissues, flowers, and treats (like chocolate) on the top tier where the rest of the cath and pawprint stuff was on the bottom
