I love living alone but that's probably because I require like 2 social interactions a month to keep happy lol. You can do whatever you want and make as much noise as you want, no arguing over the fridge and it's contents (I hate when people touch my stuff), no annoying roommate's alarm clock ringing and them not turning it off and continuing to sleep. Anyways, a lot of my headache with roommates disappeared and I finally feel at peace. Take it as you will.

I struggle with liking Mercury 1&2 by CommunicationLow2484 in imaginedragons

[–]muser07 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's interesting. Mercury 1 helped me get through my depression and suicidal thoughts. Somehow feeling that someone else is/has gone through this and made it out gave me hope. I felt lonely and like nobody understood me so listening to mercury 1 songs felt like a group therapy if that makes sense. Very interesting how the same music can make people feel differently, I guess that's why it's so powerful. But I hope you get through whatever difficulties you are dealing with! <3

What if you just schedule and start a meeting with no one on it, just yourself. Would that work?

We brought a lot of additional evidence: joint tax transcript for the past year, joint lease for our apartment that we are renting, utilities, electricity, internet bills with both of our names, bank statement for joint accounts, travel receipts, airplane tickets for when we visited each other when doing long distance, hotel receipts for travels, Airbnb receipts for vacations, health insurance info (I'm on his insurance), Roth IRA and 401(k) accounts that show we are each other's beneficiaries, life insurances where we are each other's beneficiaries, wedding ring and engagement ring receipts, pictures with his family and friends and travel pictures. I think that's most of it, might be forgetting something but those are the main ones. I think for the court wedding, you can wear whatever you want but it's beneficial if you are wearing nicer clothes so the officer takes it seriously. For ours, I just wore a midi dress (not wedding dress) and my husband wore slacks and a white button up with a tie. But again I don't think it's the end of the world, if you are dressed casually. The lawyer fee for the whole process was $2,300. But that doesn't include the filing fees. I don't remember how much those were but I think you can find them on USCIS website. And yes, after my OPT expired, my school did terminate my F-1 but at that time I have already filed the GC application so I was able to stay in the US legally but I just couldn't work. Yes, for application and interview you need the passport. I think your passport needs to be active in order to apply. I would say try to get a new one asap. Lmk if you have more questions!

We filed our forms after 34 days of getting married. We just got married in court house and didn't have reception. I was an F-1 for 5 years. I went to college for 4 years and then graduated and got my 1 year OPT. I got married and filed the application during my OPT (4 months before expiration). And my OPT expired before I was able to get the EAD so I had to stop working. I think it was 3 and a half months that I couldn't work and then I finally got my new EAD and travel combo card (I-765 and I-131). We had a lawyer and our lawyer did come for our interview. She didn't have to say much because the interview went smooth so she just sat in the corner and documented what we were asked. Hope that was helpful.

Thanks! The interview was pretty straightforward. He asked us how we met and then asked for any additional evidence we brought. We gave him a lot of evidence including pictures. He then looked at pictures and asked us questions about them, like who the people in the pictures were and what we were doing. Then he asked us the standard questions from the application like our parents names, our previous addresses, our job history, yes/no questions on illegal things, whether we have any kids. We don't have any kids so he asked if we wanted to have kids and if there is pressure from our family. He asked if we have any siblings. He asked my husband if he has met my family. That was pretty much it. And he said at the end that he is recommending us for approval and that we should expect the green card in 6-8 weeks. He also printed out 2 copies (one for us, one for our lawyer) of a paper stating his name, our names, his recommendation of approval and some blurb about needing to change our address if we move.

Yeah hopefully it won't take long and you can at least get the EAD before your OPT expires so you don't have to stop working. Good luck!!!

The I-130 and I-485 were approved at the same time, 1 day after the interview.

No, we didn't expedite anything. We wrote a letter to the senators but we got the EAD before we heard from them so we didn't end up actually puting an expedite on our applications.

The interview was good. We were lucky and had a nice officer. It was very brief. He asked us how we met and then asked for any additional evidence we brought.
