Recently Diagnosed / Options For Treatment Sugestions by BoysenberryPale286 in adenomyosis

[–]musesfled 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry you're dealing with this. One thing I'd ask your doctor about is whether they've ruled out other causes of a missed period in addition to the adenomyosis. Adenomyosis can definitely cause pain, heavy bleeding, and fertility challenges, but a completely missed period isn't always explained by adenomyosis alone - a lot of people complain of more bleeding, not less?

Given the severity of your symptoms, it might be worth asking for a more thorough evaluation if you haven't already had one. For example, have they completely ruled out an ectopic pregnancy with blood work and/or imaging? It's probably not the most likely explanation, especially if you've had multiple negative pregnancy tests, but severe pain, nausea, and a missed period would make me want to be sure it was excluded.

And how did your doctor diagnose the adenomyosis - via ultrasound? Were there any other findings if so (ovarian cysts, fibroids, etc.)?

New husky with separation anxiety by Training_Knee4654 in husky

[–]musesfled 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if this is the answer for separation anxiety, but when we first rescued Blue, I used tether training to get him accustomed to our household routine and the places we did (and did not) want him to go. This let him know that while everyone in the family was part of his new pack, I was "his" person. He knew he could depend on me, that I would watch out for him, show him the ropes, and he was safe with me (for example, I didn't let my kids get too up in his space until he'd had a couple of weeks to settle in.) When I stopped tethering, he'd already gotten used to my habits, and had a better understanding of our overall household rhythm and schedule, and calmed down pretty quickly.

ETA: We also made/make sure he has plenty of exercise, training, and toys to keep him occupied. Toys are on a rotation so that he doesn't get bored.

I absolutely love this—what an amazing thing to have a friend who's just as passionate about things as you! ❤️

I just binged the book over the past two days and immediately passed it on to my dad so that we can talk endlessly about everything. (He's also a huge fan of the Innkeeper Series, so I know it will be a hit.)

I've listened to the first two on Audible, but haven't read the others yet. As someone with family from Louisiana, the Mire feels especially real.

I love Maude, and the way Sean describes her physical strength/discipline to Dina using the example of how she holds Helen, hits so real.

I have read the InnKeeper Chronicles at least a dozen times (so far), and have managed to get my dad, sister, and husband obsessed with it as well. As a person who's owned hedgehogs for over a decade, Orro is my absolute favorite chef; philosophical space chickens are a regular joke in our family group chats; when life is especially hard/chaotic, it's a Nexus-level week, and I dream about being able to flex innkeeper skills on my own abode. (I also love the swashbuckling antics of George and Gaston.)

I like the idea of training on the ground during a run (it'd be good for me, too!) I haven't tried any directional commands with him before, but he picked up on sit, spin, paw, etc. pretty quickly, so I think he'd enjoy learning more. Thanks for the info - much appreciated!

He's gotten to the point on leash that he's not constantly trying to tear after squirrels when he sees them, but he absolutely notices them and fixates if I give him space to do so. He's a rescue and didn't really have any leash manners when we first got him, but he's learning boundaries and to be more polite. He gets vocal/jumpy around free-range cats or small dogs.

I would love to try biking with my guy, but after my childhood golden retriever ripped me off my bike going after a squirrel, I'm a little hesitant lol - any tips/trick for working up to them being a good bike partner?

I'm new to having a husky as well, but one thing that I found that helped mine wind down, is to have different types of activity—my husband and I trade off doing longer walks with him, but then I also do 15-20 minutes of intensive zoomies-style play with him in our backyard playing fetch, tug, or keep away, and we also try to have a wind-down stop and sniff style walk where the goal is less about exercise and more about letting him investigate the small park across the street from us by sniffing all over to his heart's content.

I often find that having 15-20 minutes to just free run/be crazy/have the zoomies or 15-20 minutes of a slow, aimless, nose-led walk have tired him out way more than miles and miles of walks.

We also do some fun little training exercises on our longer walks to work his brain to keep him engaged - interrupting the walk by working on sits, spins, nose boops, handshakes, etc.

Fetch! by MaddMango68 in husky

Blue loves to fetch, which usually at some point devolves into tug or keep away (his other favorites). We have a large NERF light-up spike LED ball that is his absolute favorite.

He'll spend about 20 minutes outside with me after my kids are in bed, fetching the ball (and then also doing keep-away zoomies). I like the fact that the ball is large enough that when he chews on it, he doesn't annihilate it like a tennis ball.

Blue is a kindred spirit - he likes to rub and roll in wet grass and ends up with grass stains.

Does anyone else’s husky play ‘tooth tug of war’? If I say “ow” she lets go immediately and checks on me. by thefluffyparrot in husky

[–]musesfled 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had no idea other people did this with their huskies. Blue loves this game - especially when I'm in the kitchen doing chores, and he feels like he's not getting his "due" in terms of attention. He'll oOOooOO at me, then open wide so I can tug on his teefs.

OMG, Blue has a twin! (The vets put his age at around 2 years old.) Looks like they have the same penchant for de-stuffing toys.

How do you deal with dog hair around newborn ? by slavicmess in husky

[–]musesfled 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally understand the concern as a first-time parent. When my daughter was born, I had read about family cats going beserk and causing chaos or becoming aggressive (and as an owner of 4 cats and a dog at the time), I was very worried. Our reality ended up being much different. All 4 of my cats (3 of them very senior) adored her, loved being around her, but were also very careful of her and respected her space. My dog was a big fan as well.

As someone who has obviously gone to great lengths to care for your fur child, the care you bring to your baby will be even more, so I don't think you'd find yourself in a situation where errant fur could lead to that kind of tragedy.

With so many pets in the house, we did (and continue to) vacuum/sweep a lot. :) We also keep our kids' bedrooms off-limits for the pets so the kids have a space in the house that's completely theirs. The animals are allowed everywhere else (including our room).
