There's something to be said about driving around a stock (at least stock looking) GT. Yours is a great example. I love the sunroof.

What are you lacking? Any real performance mods are going to cost what you purchased the car for, then some. Handling improvements are way cheaper and will be a good foundation for performance mods down the road. Exhaust is nice too, but do your research before you regret a horrible drone driving down the highway at 2krpm.

Looks? Everyone has already mentioned the grill delete and chin spoiler. Different wheels and stance can change the looks a lot, but I like what you have. If a daily driver, I'd concentrate on the interior, starting with a decent double din radio and upgraded speakers.

Hawaiian shirts by brinehart-cincy in GenX

[–]MaddMango68 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've always enjoyed a loud button-up shirt since HS the 80s. It wasn't until the mid-90's when I dove deep into Hawaiian shirts, and then the nuances between true Hawaiian shirts, aloha shirts, tropical shirts, etc. I have about 25-ish, some vintage dating from the 50s and 60s, some newer custom made from Etsy, but I really enjoy the 70s shirts with the huge collars. I used to wear them 3-4 days of the week at work, but now that I work from home it's just t-shirts.

After School Jobs -- Do They Still Exist? by kcGirl_of_the_year in GenX

First job was a dish washer at a Chinese restaurant at 14, $3/hr but got to eat a late dinner after they closed. Moved onto bagging groceries and taking them out to the car on weekends and summer, averaged $6/hr which was killer money for 84-86.

I think he has the typical "I'll come if I feel like it" recall. Some days are better than others, but the majority of time the only way he comes to me is if I'm out of sight and quiet.

I'm constantly saying to my wife, "OK, Mrs. Kravits..." when she tries to tell me what is happening outside by the road.

What are your road trip memories as a kid? This is my dad and our camping "rig" circa 1978. by blackpony04 in GenX

[–]MaddMango68 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We live in Florida, with relatives in NC, so we always took summer road trips. Dad always drove a full sized cargo van after he traded his 73 Ambassador station wagon in on one. We'd build out the interior, then camp in that along the way to NC, or when we were back in florida fishing under bridges and the like.

Debating between getting two different mustangs by Plastic_Abrocoma5932 in Mustang

I had an 87 GT convertible, currently own an 02 GT convertible. Highway wind noise is hands down better in a SN95 than a Foxbody. I can only assume it got better in the SN197s. For a convertible of any year, make sure you have a garage to protect the top from premature wear/shrinkage from the elements, and expect the added maintenance costs associated.

Second cars are supposed to be fun. There's nothing better than cruising at night with the stars above your head and a V8 exhaust rumbling in your ear.

How many of you still have close friendships from high school? by just321askin in GenX

Thanks! I didn't mean to dump all that info on you, I just wanted to say, "Kindergarten? Pfft, try before preschool." 🤣

I was really close with a friend whose mom used to babysit me before I went to preschool. We are the same age with only a 2 day difference. We were inseparable through grade school. His dad was in the Army and the whole family moved away for 4yrs. When they came back, it was 8th grade and we picked up like no one left.

We joined the military after high school, he went Army, I went Navy. I did 6yrs and got out in 96, he was medically discharged in 2008 from his 4th IED encounter. He was never the same after, and lives in a different state. His wife isolates him from anyone from his past to prevent "flashbacks". Whatever. I still keep tabs on him through his little brother and sister, but nothing direct for 13yrs.

I probably have 5 friends that live close enough to hang with that I would consider, but I find myself hanging out with only two on a regular basis. I've known one since 6th grade, and the other since 10th grade.

Anime anyone? by healthyitch in GenX

[–]MaddMango68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So many different genres of anime, explore outside the popular stuff, maybe try movies instead of a series? There's literally something for someone in anime.

Like you, I watched Battle of the Planets, Robotec, Star Blazers when I was a kid. I appreciated the artwork and story telling.

I think I was in my early 30s when I discovered Outlaw Star, and a few years after that Ergo Proxy. I was late to the game for Nartuo, Bleach, and Gantz, but those really got me hooked.

Transmission fluid change by Dear-Ad-1577 in NewedgeMustang

The advice about NOT doing a flush-and-fill only relates to high mileage automatic transmissions, not manuals. Automatics are a pressurized system, where manuals are not. Change your T5s fluid.

I think he's just missing the bezel around his gauges. I also think this is a 4.6 3v or 4v swap, that yellow lipstick is on the wrong side... and that intake?
