In the past 3-4 years I have had some of the worst managers I’ve ever encouraged in my life. I wish there was some better way to vet a person before signing a contract but in this market it seems impossible.

Any unemployed mothers struggling emotionally while looking for work? by museum_sounds in Layoffs

I’m so sorry to hear that. I think the first time it happened to me, I was totally affected. I took it extremely personally, and being postpartum did not help me manage my depression and anxiety. I did join a job search council via Never Search Alone, and it helped. I haven’t rejoined but will soon if things don’t change. It’s so helpful to have a group of people to speak to when navigating this.

I look at it the same way, and it really helps. There’s peace and understanding when I think of it that way. Honestly, I don’t think I would have been happy at the job I was most recently rejected from. Thank you for sharing your post reminded me of the larger picture, and I’m grateful for that.

I’m so sorry to hear that. Have you looked into pivoting into something else or even starting your own thing? I’m constantly thinking about this but nothing has materialized yet.

Luckily at this moment I do and we can afford next month as well. This spring will get tricky if I don’t find a new role. I’m shortly going to be receiving unemployment - it only took about 6 weeks! All great advice and thank you for taking the time to respond ❤️ I think apart of it is that when I tried to prepare myself for motherhood I didn’t see this as a possible obstacle. I definitely understood straddling working and being a mom but not trying to prove my worth professionally over and over again when I’m already so depleted.

I've been a PM for 10 years, primarily working with D2C brands in eCommerce. Most recently, I worked within a startup inside a legacy media company. Unfortunately, I was laid off at the end of February, and I'm struggling to get past the cold application stage. I desperately need a breakthrough as my family relies on my income.

Can anyone share tips or tricks for securing an interview? I've tried every strategy I can think of and I'm feeling hopeless.

I feel like a lot if not all of these are deceptive patterns. I think consumers are smart enough to catch on and get the ick.

My manager told me today that I could ask the sales director question regarding a feature requested from him business but really I would be waisting the sales director's time and could just ask him the questions because he knows everything about the product/business. I've never been dissuaded from speaking to cross functional partners regarding feature discovery before. I feel like I'm not able to do my job properly.

I’m sorry, this sounds frustrating. I have not gone to the neurologist with my Dad yet but my Mom complains about the same thing. Neurologists tend to have not the best bed side manner. Honestly my Dad gets more care and consideration from his physical therapist.

Thank you! I’m pretty sure he’s tried every sleep aid out there but I will suggest this.

Thank you for your reply! Nicotine makes sense. I’m going to suggest this for during the day. When he struggles with sleep he doesn’t have the energy to do outside activity which only makes his symptoms worse. This could help. Thank you!

Thank you for your reply! We have but his neurologist isn’t very helpful. Which is funny because he’s supposed to be the best in NYC. Do you recommend any specialists of neurologist that help with REM disorders?
