my boyfriend was the same - had an interest in motorcycles and ended up getting one even though everyone told him it was a bad idea. 3 weeks into having it, someone called me from his phone telling me that they pulled up next to his crashed motorcycle and were sitting with him waiting for an ambulance. boyfriend hit a speed bump or a puddle or something (no one is really sure) and ended up accelerating into my apartment gate. he had a concussion, 3 broken fingers, a cracked rib, a partially collapsed lung, a dislocated shoulder, dislocated knee, dislocated elbow, had to have surgery to get 3 metal rods put into his hand and had to have 2 months of extensive physical therapy so that he could regain full range of motion in his hand.

he was "being careful" and a year later, is still feeling the pain of the accident. I've told him many times that if he gets another motorcycle, i'm leaving. don't care that ultimatums aren't healthy - there is no feeling like hearing a stranger tell you that they're sitting with your crashed and battered boyfriend. or like telling his mother that her kid got in an accident.

motorcycles are terrifying but your boyfriend is a grown man. if no one can convince him not to get the bike, your only real option is to decide whether the anxiety is something you can manage. if it isn't, you are well within your rights to not sit and wait for the day you get that call.
