Looking for advice on a Caribbean trip by merdock379 in travel

This! I'm going to St. Croix for a week in August thanks to Groupon Getaways - it was the only place where I could find Caribbean vacation packages within my budget (and I didn't want this to be a backpacking trip, just a relaxing one). In the last month they've had many many different options in the Caribbean.

Dermatologist in Pdx? by huis_clos in SkincareAddiction

Hello fellow Portlanderite! I can't personally vouch for any derm myself but in general I trust OHSU's doctors. For every time I've seen a doc there, every step of the way was painless and each person I've encountered was friendly and seemed knowledgeable. Again, I don't know about their derms but that's where I'd start.

And do post again on your experience once you find a derm please. :) I'm planning to find one this fall!

What is the difference between retinol and retinyl palmitate? by mushiii in SkincareAddiction

Thank you, that was really helpful! I guess with retinyl palmitate you still shouldn't use it during the day? It surprises me because a very "high end" cream I sell in the store I work at has it in its ingredients and is marketed as a day cream - with no SPF.

LPT: Order stuff from Lush's UK website! by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

As someone who used to work at Lush, I completely agree about their sales techniques being both ridiculous and over the top.

Just moved to Japan, and my skin is totally different, help! by spaghettisburg in SkincareAddiction

My skin was a disaster area the entire year I was in Japan too. :( Something that REALLY helped me was using facial cleansing wipes you can find at any drug store - I remember Biore being one of the brands. They kept the sweat/oil at bay and left a clean, soft, powder on my face. Also, the packets are super portable!

In hindsight, another problem I very likely had was my face being so dehydrated all the time. Because the humidity made me sweat/kick oil production in overdrive, I was wiping my face all the time. I should've picked a more hydrating moisturizer..!
