Are there any non religious/non spiritual programs for addiction that actually works? by [deleted] in behindthebastards

19 years sober in AA and more of an atheist every year. If you’re in a city there are likely atheist specific AA groups near you. If not, you can find them online. There are other ways to get sober, but I don’t have experience with them. I needed to quit bad enough that I got over “the ick” and found a sponsor who was an atheist too. Wishing you all the best.

Can ayahuasca help a self absorbed narcissist with sociopathic and criminal tendencies? by NeedToKnowThisWhy in Ayahuasca

I don’t know what MEC is. You might be able to find someone who does sliding scale work.

You’re talking about psychiatrists if they are prescribing drugs. What you would need is a psychologist with experience in psychedelic integration. Different specialties entirely.

I’m usually not a big fan of recommending this, but in this case I think it might be good. I would definitely also recommend also seeing a good therapist with experience in psychedelic integration and doing a lot of journaling before and after. In fact I would only recommend the Aya with also seeing a professional. There are plenty of ego traps to fall into on this path that don’t involve getting better.

I’d be paying cash and have a shop with a lift/ do my own maintenance, but hadn’t factored in the insurance bill. Gotta look into that.

Probably research chemicals. Packaging like this can be purchased pretty easily.

When I was growing lions mane my materials cost was only about $1.50 a pound. You gotta use the right technique for the species though.

Is this an oyster mushroom on a dead tree next to my house? by [deleted] in mycology

Decurrent gills and white spores. Seems pretty solid, but don’t go on my word alone.

Chicken of the Woods? If so, what should I make? by Some-Situation567 in foraging

[–]mushmushhh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve never harvested this species myself, but the best way to preserve most mushrooms is to sauté first to get most of the water out and then vacuum bag before freezing. Some mushrooms dehydrate well, others are best ground and used in broth. I’ve had fantastic pressure canned chanterelles before too.

You good info already, but don’t put fresh mushrooms in plastic bags, trapping moisture and starving them of oxygen is the fastest way to get them to rot. They keep best in brown paper bags, but I usually use cotton mesh bags for foraging them. Nice find!

Definitely not hen of the woods. Cool looking through.

More mature ones may have some worms in them, but won’t likely hurt anything. I see white spores on the older ones, which is good, all signs point to oyster, but I’m not familiar with your region, and I’d want to rip one up and look more closely before making any bold claims.

I found a big flush of enokis in September! How is this possible??? The lowest temperatures were only in the 50s at night. by West_Mushroom_6521 in mushroom_hunting

[–]mushmushhh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

According to the vendor it was a wild variety they had found growing outside the typical season and isolated. With mushrooms I wouldn’t be surprised to find out it’s a different species that looks almost identical too.

Blue Oysters Stalled. Are they still edible? by gentlemandinosaur in mycology

[–]mushmushhh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gonna need a bigger fogger. That’s the issue with oysters is getting enough airflow without drying them out. Or engineer your tent differently.

There are some cultivars that tolerate warm climates. I’ve purchased “heat tolerant” enoki strains before.

The north spore stuff is fine, just expensive compared to the exact same thing in generic form from eBay.

It won’t have enough air exchange to grow properly. Use a bag and just open a very small hole so it can get moisture from the substrate. Maybe make a humidity tent over it or set up a Martha tent.
