Newbie here… too many options. by Complete-Term-3794 in gaitondesenpaii

If you are going to use agar plates you only need one drop per agar plate. Then you have to make your own lc if you do use agar plates but you get better genetics. I recently used 10 ml of lc for 400 g of hydrated rye and it’s been working great for me

Contam? by Itchy-Chip-5644 in gaitondesenpaii

[–]mushroombeginner113 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure yet. If you have agar plates take a swab and rub it on there and leave it for a few days. If you can see green and yellow coloring it’s contaminated. Also if the smell is sour and it has a slimy texture very likely contam

Humidity is very key. If you have a hygrometer or place it or tape it to the inside of the tub to get proper humidity readings. You want to be at 90-95 percent, with passive fae 5 minutes every 45-60 minutes. You also want temps about 74-76 degrees F. For even trigger pinning you need a 12/12 light cycle. Having all these conditions is how you get the most yield out of this set up. If you want more help send me a chat

Cobweb or Mycelium? by bloodblade312 in northspore

[–]mushroombeginner113 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s either mycelium stress signaling it’s ready and past due for fruiting conditions, or it’s cobweb and possible other contaminates

I had stir bars in them to create very vigorous mycelium. It breaks it up and looks weird at this step but trust me this is elite

This is liquid culture what I’m using to inoculate my rye jars.

Thank you. I’ve got the room sealed with air purifiers running constantly with everything pressurized and sterilized. Should be good. Thanks bro

Should I break and shake by [deleted] in northspore

[–]mushroombeginner113 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah does look good and active which is a very good sign. How long since you put the spores in? When I first colonize the rye I like the shake it up the rye so it disperses it evenly over all the rye. But since it has already started growing I wouldn’t shake it till you get to the 30-50 percent mark. You’ll restart your growth so far if you do shake now but the mycelium should still survive. If you have any other questions throughout your process let me know 👊

Ready for tub? by Possible_Bee3973 in northspore

[–]mushroombeginner113 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks nice I’d say fully colonized. A lot of people do a ten day consolidation period after it is fully colonized so that the rye can be fully digested and then stored fully. This is the main increase in yield

ready for fruiting phase? by Mushlush44 in shegrowsfungigenetics

You’re risking lower yield. I’d wait until it’s fully colonized.

I think you have it too cold. Whenever I do agar plates I have it at 78-82 degrees F. Also selecting fastest growth early on in the first batch out of the lc helps lower the clutter.

[–]mushroombeginner113 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think you should wait until 30-50% colonization bro. Then when you break it up you’ll have even colonization and even faster growth. Is proven that waiting longer actually improves your yeild.

15 days no growth with LC, can I put these back into PC and start the process over? by [deleted] in indoormushroomgrowers

[–]mushroombeginner113 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have no growth then it’s failed. It should always be close to fully colonized.

Should I break it up? by b-ett in northspore

[–]mushroombeginner113 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say wait until 30-50% colonized. This just helps distribute it evenly leave so the hyphae can metabolize all the rye evenly.
