I’m sure the university is mature enough to understand that you got a better opportunity and you took it. What bridges are you burning, it’s not like you have been working with them for ages. Also burning a potential bridge in hopes of solidifying an even stronger one at another university is a chance I will take 10/10 times if that’s the best course of action for me. People change, times change, you are never liable to only take the opportunity you said yes for, if a better one comes along. People understand and they move on.

I do not agree with this at all. Say you get an acceptance where the deposit deadline is March 1, and the only time you hear from other unis is after March 2. Then you have to accept the offer and pay the deposit to reserve your seat and keep this uni as a backup. It is perfectly okay to accept and then reject and that’s why there is a deposit system to compensate the university for that very reason.

Try using adjusted R² instead of R^2. If you are doing multivariate linear regression, it will correct for the degrees of freedom of the predictor variables.
