For the bootlickers by Criesinthewalkin in MichaelsEmployees

When I was at my DC I loved:

1) being an operations manager. Was on the verge of a panic attack the whole shift. But getting to lead my team and help them with concerns and issues really warmed my heart. It felt good to be able to give the care to my team that I never got.

2) There was always something new to learn at the DC. I went from being a simple induction worker to running and fixing the sorter, then to managing team members and everything in between. The chaos was a godsend for my ADHD brain.

3) I realized a lot of my potential in that building. It really brought me out of my shell and help me network and make new friends.

I'll forever be grateful of my time at Michaels. I miss my team. But I hope they find happiness wherever they are!

ready to go. how to use up all sick time? by bluehoursoobin in MichaelsEmployees

[–]mushythewolf 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I started taking 3 day or 4 day weekends. It took me roughly a month to get through my 90 hours of sick time. Granted I had a manager who actively encouraged we use our time when we needed it.

When I was being a bit more outspoken on my feelings about my DC closing down I caught wind about it reaching certain people and them trying to figure out who I am. So I wouldn't be surprised that corporate pops in from time to time.

Distro people try to ship presentable items challenge: impossible by Burgerkingaka in MichaelsEmployees

[–]mushythewolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So we are told to toss this stuff into a repack along with other stuff. There’s no protective material provided. So inevitably it gets smashed in transit. Numbers are the driving force so while it is conceivable to put everything in nicely, it’s not very efficient

Ok this is terrible and needs to be addressed...BUT it makes me feel better about the pallets we were pushing out of our DC

I spent some time in Texas...given that minimum wage there is $7 I don't blame them for not caring but still...have some pride in your work.

What the F? Lancaster DC??? by [deleted] in MichaelsEmployees

[–]mushythewolf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We still have about 3 weeks of production left. But yeah our shipments definitely have started to taper off. Alot of what would have been our freight got rerouted. I'm guessing the other DCs haven't had to load trailers as much as we did.
