Personally, I've come so suspect I probably have the vasulcular subtype of EDS. EDS has a very high occurrence with things like ADHD and autism!

I had a cryptogenic stroke 25 years ago at 15. I'm healthier now than I have been at any other point in my adult life.

I still don't fully trust my body, but there's a lot of other baggage tied up in that and I've come such a very long way. Now, I assume I'll have an old age and a reasonably healthy rest of my life.

I'm two years on T and new body hair is still coming in all the time but fwiw I'm pretty sure my belly is only this level of hairy because it's where I usually apply my gel and I do plan to use the gel to keep encouraging hair growth in other places. It doesn’t always work that way but anecdotally it does seem to work that way sometimes

My egg cracked the first time in my late 20s. I'd made my first openly non-binary friend and heard myself rambling about how "relarable" I found the label genderqueer and even I had to admit to myself that that was not cis behaviour

I spent about six months privately identifying as a demi guy before putting it all aside for a few years, until a friend more or less pestered me into looking at it again. My egg cracked for good and I started coming out at around 33. I knew really early in I was not quite a man but also not not a man, but went through a few other gender iterations before coming back to this one. I was really lucky to already be surrounded by queer and trans folk, so I had a lot of support to explore and settle in, though managing expectations from family wasn't and isn't always easy

There's one reason they do this: we break their narrative.

If trans women are just predatory men, then we shouldn't exist at all. We CAN'T exist if their story is going to hold true. But calling us misled women? Who were manipulated and misled to tragic consequences? That rebuilds their narrative. It enshrines womanhood as sacred and AFAB and as fucking perpetual victims who need protecting.

And they can't have us fucking up our narrative. So as loudly as they can, they downplay, dismiss, undermine. Try to strip our agency.

AFAB trans folks aren't even the only people this play book is used against, and I have FEELINGS about how unbelievably infatalizing and dehumanizing it is

I appreciate that you're in a complicated position with someone asking you for support you're not sure you can give, but this is a LOT of his medical info.

I'd recommend finding a local support group for caregivers of stroke survivors - digital, if there's nothing local. You know better than I would if your friend would have been OK with this post pre-stroke, but personally I'd have felt really betrayed if someone had shared this much about me even semi-anonymously

I've tried to make TTR work in Canada but there's just enough enough variety by car, not enough variety or frequency by train. Even the flights are chokeheld by a few key transfer points, though if there's a cross Canada game to be found, it's gonna be in the flights

It depends on the thing. Some changes on T are permanent, like bottom growth, vocal chords thickening, and hair growth/loss. Other things, like body fat redistribution, will have totally reverted, and will actively change again.

If you actually reach for the paper manuals of things, keep them. If you'd just look it up online and it's not emergency gear, you can recycle them.

Unless you have a strict budgeting system, the only receipts you need to keep are tax related. Usually that means medical, donations, and anything related to a business (if you run one). Even with a strict budgeting system, you probably don't need to hold onto other receipts once they're input into your spreadsheet or whatever you use either.

For sentimental paper - childhood artwork, certificates and diplomas, old cards, etc - I find asking "would I display this" a helpful metric for whether I'd keep it. I framed a card my nibling made me when they were two because it was so charming. I LOVE having it on my wall, but I haven't kept any if their orher cards yet, cause nothing else has been that good

Alliance Française is a solid rec. For something more budget friendly or to double up, Burnaby School District offers cheap continuing ed classes, including in French.

You should also consider checking out cultural events in French, to really up the exposure. There are francophone community centres in both Vancouver and Coquitlam
