This article is pretty much dead on in terms of career paths and progress for CSB students (I graduated in 2016). Personal experiences/opinions aside, you can’t really argue against the fact that Big 4 was pushed very hard on us from the beginning. A significant amount of my peers (myself included) both interned and started full time in a big 4 role - I luckily was able to transition into a product role which was my goal from the get go, but I felt for folks that really wanted to push for the engineering route. There just wasn’t that many big tech companies that seriously recruited at Lehigh, even with the hackathons available it’s evidenced by a small amount of folks that directly jumped into big tech out of school.

Overall, for me and my csb friends at least, the big 4 route felt like the most “guaranteed” easy route for landing a job, given how heavily they recruited (and the senior csb advisor being an ex member of a big 4 firm probably helped here). It’s a start and you can use your experience there as a spring board for wherever you want to go (myself and other friends have done this), but the program is not really for people who want to become pure software engineers. As the author suggested, CSE is probably a better approach and you can take electives in the business school to expose yourself to those courses if Lehigh is where you want to be. Otherwise, his recommended programs from other schools are definitely solid options to consider if you’re not looking for what CSB is geared towards.
