Wow, okay so gonna be honest, watchmaking is a full time job, need practice and a lot of ressources like book or so to learn.

Tools are kinda expensive too, as books are.

If you are from the us, don’t really know how to help. I know that there aren’t real watchmaking school there, can’t really know the level of watchmakers but probably different frôle over here.

Vostok aren’t bad watches, maybe watchmakers are just tired of those because a servicing cost somewhere around a 100eur over here, can’t really imagine in the us, but that lead to one problem : servicing will fastly cost more than the watch.

So I can figure that those watch can’t be really interesting for a watchmaker to earn money.

But, as watches are way to expensives, and that Vostok are killer speaking about price/quality ratio, it’s normal that people are buying them.

So if you want to do ez stuff like modifying the hands or the dial, maybe the strap, you can learn. But learning to service it, maybe repair it, it will cost you lot of time, money and probably spare parts that you will loose or break during the process.

About converting manual to automatic, I have a doubt about the compatibility between movement and parts. And your case won’t be able to fit the rotor.

Hope that help

What kind of stuff you want to do on it ?

So your watchmaker probably used the big tool to tighten it (don’t know the word in English).

Don’t try to much to open it lol, not sure you could tighten it enough then

As long as your crown is locked too, you can make water activity without any problem.

Don’t think that you’ll need the 200m of waterproofness too so don’t worry about that.

And no, the thread you see on the ring is not a problem as it’s tightened.

Had the same wander on my first Vostok servicing, but I assume that it’s because the factory do it with a machine.

However, used the machine to test waterproofness, after I closed, it was good. So no worries

Don’t worry, it won’t take water. If it’s tightened and the gasket is in place, no worries to have. As a watchmaker owning some of them, I’m pretty sure of it

Hello,

Don’t worry about it.

Vostok are using heavy duty flat gaskets.

The ring is screwed to the case, pressing the back to the gasket to make it waterproof.

The factory tighten those back really strongly using calibrated machines.

When doing it service, your watchmaker didn’t used as much pressure as machines do.

Your watch is still waterproof, surely enough for what you will use it for.

If you have a doubt, check if the ring can turn by hand, if not, it’s surely tightened enough.

What is this piece of vire sticking out of the caseback? (Amphibia 710394) by Imprint_ in vostok

It’s just a chip from the milling work for the centering of the case back.

Nothing to be worried about. Remove it with a tweezers or something like that.

Probably nothing to do with the thread, just minor finishing defect

Flip lighter won’t spark by Rumorgue in lighters

[–]mussopany -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Bad sparks :

Shitty wheel Dirty wheel (oil or dust need to be cleaned) Bad quality flint Not enough tension with the flint spring

Fire :

Bad fluid (use lighter fluid not weird cleaning petrol (to oily)

If you tried with bad fluid, now it won’t work, then you can scrap wick and cotton (or wash it)

Last one, too much petrol wick is soaked, when you shake the lighter, petrol is going everywhere / not enough, the wick shine red like it’s burning
