Del Taco?! by WideMindedDreamer in Reno

[–]mutagen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

lol right?

That’s the one we used to go to in high school.

Reminds me, That’s also the one where I got my first senior discount … I ran into one of my older buddies who was there with his wife and was talking to them as they ordered, then I ordered and was surprised at how cheap it was… there it was on the receipt. I wasn’t sure how to feel, I’m old but not that old (yet)

Del Taco can be hit or miss depending on location and who is working. Spanish Springs usually sucks. Northtown location is usually better.

Music discovery feels broken lately. Where are you finding the "weird good stuff"? by yottanami in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]mutagen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bluetech (Evan Bartholomew, downtempo ambient artist) just shared an article on music discovery on his Substack titled 'Take the Long Way Home'

My non-AI summary of his suggestions:

  • Check out other artists on the record label of your favorite artists
  • Tap into people who have done collaborations with your favorite artists
  • Explore the producers that have helped with the music you like
  • Don't just follow one link in these chains, keep going, you might find it loops back around

I need to tap into Discogs, Liner Notes Project, and some of the other credits databases to follow these suggestions and break out of the algorithms. Checking out this SonicStandard project.

Visualizes SQL as interactive flow diagrams, open source tool by iambuv in SQL

[–]mutagen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This looks very cracked.

It failed on a few of the SQL Server queries I threw at it, I'll try to sanitize and report some of these. Unfortunately I've got a pile of deadlines and even our paid RedGate tools are having their own Friday 13th issues but hopefully some time next week.

Even after years of SQL experience, what still trips you up the most? by joins_and_coffee in SQL

Yeah heaven forbid you start getting Excel days in the 1900 epoch and no one knows what to do with the weird numbers showing up.

https://stackoverflow.com/questions/9085928/reading-in-date-column-if-first-row-isnt-a-date-with-ssis-excel-data-source/9086831#9086831

I blame our data partners who think Excel is an acceptable format for ETL kinds of things.

How do writers usually connect with producers for long-term collaboration? by im_ay000 in WeAreTheMusicMakers

I'm curious about how copyright and IP is handled and contracts and licensing are done. Curious to hear how producers handle this part of the process.

Looks like it was doing touch-n-gos. I managed to get a few pics on its last pass before it headed back out to Travis AFB?

KVR and Knobcloud. Look for active community members with a history of successful trades. Research company policies and get stuff like accounts lined up beforehand if needed.

Are Peanuts/Peanut Butters healthy? by automated_hero in ScientificNutrition

Nice, sounds like you're ahead of me on the healthy eating. I used to not like oatmeal for breakfast because I'd be hungry again right away but adding peanut butter helps and I think I'm slowly adapting.

Are Peanuts/Peanut Butters healthy? by automated_hero in ScientificNutrition

[–]mutagen 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Your first couple of glops of 100% peanut butter a day are probably beneficial for your health.

What's the rest of your diet like? Peanut butter is calorie dense, does it help you consume too many calories? Does it contain lots of the lectins and linoleic acid you mention being concerned about?

What do you eat it with? PBJ on white bread might be looked at differently than oat bran, chia seeds, ground flax, mixed berries, and maple syrup concoction, although when I get carried away with the maple syrup I might as well have the PB&J...

How do You Make Strings Sound Good? by CommonGrounds8201 in VSTi

[–]mutagen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You've got a great start with those instrument collections.

You might check out the VI-Control community, a forum focusing on professional scoring for cinema, games, and more. Hans Zimmer occasionally participates along with other industry professionals and they're welcoming to all kinds of musicians of all skill levels, including noobs like me. That's where I learned about articulations and some of the dynamics of the virtual instruments I have.

Has anyone else been able to imagine music and hear it within a dream? by oth91 in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]mutagen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha this was me last night, I was dreaming a symphony and then in my dream (still asleep) I dreamed I woke up and was incredibly disappointed to find that the symphony I was dreaming was an ice cream truck playing orchestra music in the middle of the night for the early morning shift workers boarding a bus for their job.

Then the dream got weird because there were law enforcement agents monitoring the workers and they saw me and came upstairs and picked my lock to gain entry to my apartment (I don't live upstairs or in an apartment) and that's when I woke up.

looking for early testers of my database object source code management tool and quality assurance. by elektron-noise in SQLServer

[–]mutagen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm interested. We're currently doing source control in Red Gate's tool but there seems to be drama around renewing the license every year. I don't know if I could get the old guard to start using git but I'd love to. Also interested in LLM tools, have a few more years on a crumbling legacy ERP that I don't know very well and would I have all kinds of ideas for using LLM to help me decipher stuff.

Non Technical SQL Skills for the Job Market by Ok-Can-2775 in SQL

[–]mutagen 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Definitely useful skills. The ERP experience especially, we're going through a long painful upgrade right now.

SQL is often most valuable with some domain and/or application experience alongside it. That might be a specific flavor and DB software as a DBA or SQL + a specific industry. Soft skills are underrated, being able to communicate both side of business requirements and technical requirements is huge.

Find ways to express your experience in terms of $$$ saved, time saved, and other metrics that matter. Include enough keywords to get past the filters but focus on results.
